Table No 21
The film starts like a typical Bollywood film with song and customary romance. But then it quickly shifts to the game between the couple and the owner of a restaurant chain who offers the. A lucrative deal of 21 crores for playing his game telecasted live on internet. The couple are dobtful but couldn't resist the money. As the game progress things gets murkier and darker. And we start hating Paresh Rawal for his sinister game. He made them eat insects, get their hari shaved, remove their clothes, get beaten up by people in public etc. Rajeev Khandelwal and Tina Desai go through a spectrum of emotions from confused, suspicious, angry, guilty, and helpless. But the climax change it all.
Paresh Rawal asks the couple to commit a murder to get him million hits on his website. The couple don't want to die so they reluctantly agree to kill another person. They enter the room only to find a mentally challenged young man. And they froze.
The man they rag**d mercilessly
Shaved his head
Removed his clothes
Got him beaten by public
The humiliation led to his mental breakdown.
Suddenly the tables have turned. The victims turn out to be the Villains of the tale and the supposed villain turns out to be the father of the boy.
Table no 21 ends with a symbolism (the number 21 not only suggests the 21 crores that was the winning amount it also point out to the Article 21 of the Indian Constitution - RIGHT TO LIVE).
Even though the film was not a big budget flick nor a big commercial success but it was a film worth watching particularly for its somewhat unexpected ending.
