Why do you love Macao?

Macao has released its Third Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development for 2026–2030 on August 18. Since the launch of its first five-year plan in 2016, the city has undergone tremendous changes. Yet it was only after I visited the city myself that I truly understood what the city is like—how colourful, diverse, and fascinating it is, and how deeply I love it.

Macao, an incredibly relaxed city

I could clearly feel its relaxation from the very first moment my feet touched its land.

I took a ferry from Hong Kong to Macao on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. The journey took about an hour. When I arrived at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, I was immediately struck by the city’s relaxed atmosphere: clean streets, a gentle breeze, and a slower rhythm of life, completely different from Hong Kong’s fast-paced lifestyle, fast-walking people and narrow streets. Amazing!

A fairytale-like world

What impressed me most about Macao was its colour. Every street is a scene, and every building seems like a work of art.

The lively, down-to-earth atmosphere of Rua do Cunha, the sea breeze of Coloane, the tightly packed residential buildings of the old neighbourhoods, the colourful facades of Travessa da Paixão, the romance of Love Lane. I wandered into one street after another. It felt like walking into a fairytale.

Small in size, rich in cultural heritage; Traces of Portuguese remains.

Macao covers an area of only 33 square kilometres, smaller than Shanghai Pudong International Airport—but its cultural heritage can be found everywhere.

A signboard wirtten in Chinese and Portuguese to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the founding of the Macao Special Administrative Region

The Historic Centre of Macao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been remarkably well preserved. From the Portuguese-style cobblestone square of Senado Square to the weathered stone façade of the Ruins of St. Paul’s and the historic Monte Fort, traces of Macao’s centuries-old history are everywhere. Every street seemed to tell a story about the centuries of trade, migration, and cultural exchange that have shaped Macao.

Luxury, everyday life Exist side by side

Macao has glamorous, luxurious hotels and casinos, but it also has humble old neighbourhoods. At night, the neon lights begin to glow, and the magnificent casinos and entertainment venues create dazzling extravagance. While, I was at a creative shop, carefully choosing postcards and collecting commemorative stamps.

A city of temptation

Macao has a powerful, dangerous kind of charm.

It is a place where someone might become rich overnight—or lose everything just as quickly. Everyone is welcome to come into the casinos, without discrimination. Luggage storage is free of charge. Snacks are prepared

A City of Inclusiveness

On a city bus, I saw women from Indonesia and the Philippines carrying shopping bags in both hands, chatting happily and animatedly with one another. At the Macao Museum, a Portuguese staff member in uniform patiently answered visitors’ questions in English.

And on Love Lane, I happened to meet a couple from Taiwan, China. We greeted each other warmly and embraced as if we were old friends.

I can list 100 reasons why I love the city. Wish it a brighter future.

Why is Lord Shiva often shown as half-man and half-woman?

This is the form of Ardhanarishvara (lit. the half-female God)

Shri Ardhanarishvara

I will illustrate the divine symbolism of this form (some are my own interpretations and some are from Shastras).

  • It represents the inseperable principle of divine feminine and divine masculine as stated by Hrudaya P .
  • From a Yogic perspective, it represents the two prominent Nādis, Ida and Pingala which unite at the Ajna Chakra (commonly called the third eye chakra).
  • From a social perspective, it gives us the message to treat the third gender people with utmost respect.

Which full-length movies had no women in the cast?

….“Lawrence Of Arabia”/1962…. is a 4 hour movie about a gay man.

David Lean knew it.

Peter O’Toole played it that way.

Not a single female character/actress says a line in the film.

Why is space holding planets?

Space isn't actually holding the planets up at all. Earth is locked in a perpetual freefall, hurtling sideways at 67,000 mph just fast enough to constantly miss the Sun.

To understand why planets stay in place, you first have to discard the idea of "up" and "down." On Earth, if you drop a rock, it falls down. But in the wider universe, "down" does not exist as a universal direction. Down is simply the path toward the center of the nearest massive object. There is no cosmic floor for planets to fall onto.

Instead of falling down, planets are constantly falling around. In 1915, Albert Einstein revolutionized our understanding of gravity by proposing that space and time are woven together into a four-dimensional fabric called spacetime.

Imagine stretching a large trampoline tight and placing a heavy bowling ball in the center. The ball causes the fabric to sink, creating a deep funnel. This is what the Sun does to spacetime. If you take a marble—representing a planet like Earth—and roll it sideways along the rim of that funnel, it won't drop straight to the center. It will circle the bowling ball.

Earth's natural tendency is to travel in a straight line out into deep space, but the steep curve of the Sun's gravity well constantly bends that straight path into a circle. The precise balance of forward momentum and the inward pull of curved space results in a stable orbit.

Does it rain diamonds on Neptune and Uranus due to their extreme atmospheric conditions?

It has now been confirmed with greater confidence that it rains diamonds on Neptune and Uranus, and that diamonds accumulate into vast diamond-floating icebergs at some depth.

These giant planets have some methane in their atmospheres. Because of lightning, methane transforms into graphite, which falls as droplets deeper down. At a certain depth, the pressure is so high that graphite rain transforms into diamond rain.

The new research subjected diamond to pressures higher than those at Neptune and Uranus and confirmed the theory that liquid carbon is denser than solid diamond. Previously, computer simulations suggested this, but we could only speculate.

It means that, similar to water ice floating on oceans and forming icebergs on Earth, diamond rain should reach liquid carbon at some depth on these huge planets. It likely then accumulates into diamond icebergs and platforms. It must look spectacular if we could illuminate it and reach it with cameras. It will be immensely difficult, probably impossible, to construct devices that could reach such depths on Neptune or Uranus, survive, and send back footage for us to see.

Who is the Supreme Goddess of Shaktism, Kali or Tripurasundari?

Kali and Lalita Tripurasundari, she is the same Supreme Goddess. Tripurasundari is the most gentle, benevolent and playful version of the same Maa Kali.

Bhagwati Kali is the first Mahavidya. She is the complete representation of the unfiltered, uncovered truth. She is Digambari, Mahakali is the Raw form of Adi Shakti.

The same Adi Shakti Mahakali or the eternal reality in a beautifully decorated form is Lalita Tripurasundari. She is the third Mahavidya, the source of entire beauty that exists.

How does the real story of Gandhari's marriage differ from what we see in popular adaptations?

Gandhari

The marriage story of Gandhari and Dhritarashtra is just too simple. Bhishma sent a proposal of marriage of Gandhari with Dhritarashtra through a diplomat to King Subala of Gandhara (modern day Kandhara area including Taxila). He was perplexed and anxious as the would be groom was blind but in the end he accepted the proposal because Hastinapur was a very big and prosperous Kingdom and could be a perfect ally for Gandhara.

Shakuni took his sister to Hastinapur and Gandhari knowing her husband is blind decided to not see things her husband couldn't see and she blindfolded herself and vowed to never see any faults in her husband. With her wise and kind behaviour, she won over her in laws.

If Ravana was Shiv bhakt, then why couldn't he sense Hanuman as a reincarnation of Shiva?

 Ravana was no Shiv bhakt.

This myth doesn’t exist in the actual Ramayana. He was an abuser who mocked Mahadeva out of sheer arrogance.

On seeing that Pushpaka couldn't move, surrounded by his advisers, the rakshasa began to think. "This can go wherever it wants. How has its movement been impeded? What is the reason why Pushpaka cannot advance? This must be the act of someone who is on this mountain." The intelligent Maricha spoke to Dashagriva. "O king! There must be some reason why Pushpaka cannot advance." Bhava's follower, the powerful Nandishvara arrived by his side and fearlessly addressed the Indra among the rakshasas. "O Dashagriva! Return. Shankara is sporting on this mountain. Therefore, this mountain has been made impassable for birds, serpents, yak-shas, daityas, danavas, rakshasas and all creatures." His eyes turned coppery red with rage and he descended from Pushpaka. Saying. "Who is this Shankara?" He went to the bottom of the mountain. He saw the lord Nandishvara standing not far away, holding a spear and resembling a second Shankara. The rakshasa saw that he was an odd kind of human and ignored him. In his foolishness, he laughed, like a cloud filled with water.

Mahadeva upon this punished Ravana by imprisioning him under a mountain which crushed Ravana’s arms. This led to him being named as Ranava.

'He approached the mountain and spoke these words. "O lord of the earth! This mountain has prevented my progress and has impeded Pushpaka's movement. I will destroy its foundation. O Bhava! What powers allow you to sport like a king? It should be known to me. I do not know why I should be scared." O king! Having said this. he inserted his arms under the mountain and tried to raise it, the way a predatory beast raises a tree with an animal on it. O Rama! At this. Mahadeva laughed at what he had done. As if he was sporting, he pressed down on the mountain with the big toe of his foot. Thus pressed, the hands that were under the mountain were crushed. The rak-shasa's advisers who were present were astounded. The rakshasa became angry at his hands being crushed. He emitted an extremely loud roar that filled up the three worlds. Thinking that the worlds were about to end, humans were terrified at the sound. The gods were also agitated and were distracted from their own tasks. Mahadeva, seat-ed on the summit of the mountain, was pleased. 550 Freeing his hands, he addressed Dashanana in these words. "O roamer in the night! I am pleased with your valour and your ferocity. You let out a roar in your pain and that one was extremely terrible. Therefore, your name should be Ravana and this will be your name. Gods, humans, yak-shas and others who are on the surface of this world will address you by this name-Ravana, who makes the worlds scream. 551 O Poulastya! Confidently proceed along whichever path you want to follow. O lord of the rak-shasas! I am giving you permission to leave." Ravana obtained his name from Maheshvara himself. Having greet-ed Mahadeva, he mounted the vimana. O Rama! After this, Ravana roamed around on earth. Here and there, he started to obstruct the extremely brave kshatriyas."

Simply put Ravana didn’t any songs in Mahadeva’s honour He purely got saved because of his destiny to die at the hands of Shree Rama.

This is a classic case of bully behaviour. Ravana mocked others because he believed he’s all powerful, until he got owned.

Never glorify Ravana. He wasn’t bhakt, he was a vile criminal and rightfully suffered for his crimes.

Could there be aliens living on planets in the intergalactic space, and what would their night sky look like?

Aliens could be living on planets in intergalactic space. It would be considerably more difficult for them to visit other star systems than it is for us.

We think that stars form predominantly in galaxies, but between 30 and 50% might exist in intergalactic space. Galaxies shed stars mostly during galactic mergers, and a smaller number for other reasons, such as the disintegration of multi-star systems or supernova explosions in multi-star systems.

The last of these listed causes is traumatic enough to seriously damage planets, but galactic mergers can give star systems enough of a kick to expel them from galaxies with planetary systems largely intact. Living planets can then drift in intergalactic space without their home galaxies for eternity.

Inhabitants of such systems would experience a sky that could be almost devoid of stars, especially if an intergalactic system ends up in galactic voids. Without as many stars as in our sky, distant galaxies would be more visible.

Some extinctions on Earth have been attributed to causes outside our solar system, such as supernova explosions or gamma-ray bursts. Systems traveling in intergalactic space would be safe from such events, so living planets would experience fewer extinctions.

This is the end of good news. Planets and their systems are not habitable forever. If technological civilizations can last for billions of years, they will eventually need to leave. Even red dwarf stars, which can shine for up to 12 trillion years, cannot be inhabited for that long. We are not sure they can host life on the surface because intense flaring can strip a planet's atmosphere and oceans.

Complex life needs plate tectonics to recycle nutrients over hundreds of millions of years and a magnetic field to protect the surface from some radiation from space. Plate tectonics might go on for 10 to 15 billion years and magnetic field doesn’t last forever either.

Technological civilizations might be able to cope with the end of plate tectonics and a planet's magnetic field by using technology for a time around long-lived red dwarf and orange dwarf stars, but stars similar to the Sun have shorter lifespans. The transformation of such stars into white dwarfs might be difficult for technological civilizations to withstand without moving elsewhere.

It will be immensely difficult to leave an intergalactic star system for another one. We are not sure how widespread planets are that a civilization can move to. They might be rare, and in intergalactic space they might be thousands of light-years away or more. It’s already immensely difficult even for us to visit the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri, 4.3 light-years away.

What is the true love story of Shiva and Sati? Why did it end in such tragedy?

Daksha (son of Bramha) did great spiritual practice to please Mā Ādi Shakti. As the wheel of time propelled, Mā gave him Darshan and asked for his desire. He asked Mā to incarnate as his daughter.

Surendra Pal as Daksha in DKDM

So the Goddess granted him the boon and incarnated as his daughter whom he named Sati.

As a child she used to adore the tales that expounded the lilas of Maheshvara.

When the time came to get his daughters married off, Sati rejected every groom and was ready to accept only Shiv as her husband. She worshipped Shiv a lot so that he fulfills her wish. Amidst this journey Bhagvān Shiv and his ganas used to often test her. As she passed the tests, he decided to grant her the wish she longed for. Once married to Bhagvān, She moved with him to Kailash. This did not sit well with Daksha as he disliked Shankar Bhagvān for his odd behaviour and ascetic temperament.

Self immolation of Sati

From Daksha’s despise and persistent ill behaviour whatever happened was a lila of Shiv himself for us humans and to crush Daksha’s oversized ego since he is Trikāladarshi (knower of past, present and future). It was not a tragedy. Later on he married Pārvati Maa (rebirth of Sati only).

How long ago was the Universe smaller than the visible Universe is today?

Depending on the ultimate shape of the cosmos, the entire Universe was smaller than today's visible bubble exactly 13.79 billion years ago—or literally never.

Understanding why requires separating two very different concepts: the observable universe and the entire Universe. The observable universe is the spherical bubble of space currently visible from Earth. Because the universe is 13.8 billion years old and space is expanding, the light from the farthest edges of observation has been stretched along the way. Today, that bubble of observable space is roughly 93 billion light-years in diameter.

But the observable universe is just the part of the cosmos whose light has had enough time to reach telescopes on Earth. The entire Universe extends far beyond that boundary.

Current cosmological data heavily favors the idea that the universe is spatially infinite, stretching out forever in every direction. If the universe is infinite today, it has always been infinite. It did not start as a finite speck that grew into infinity. When cosmologists describe the early universe as infinitely dense, they mean that an infinite expanse of space was crammed with matter and energy at extreme densities. As the universe expanded, the distance between any two points increased, but the total volume was always infinite. Under this standard model, the entire Universe was never smaller than the current 93-billion-light-year visible bubble.

However, some models suggest space might be closed—meaning a traveler going far enough in a straight line would eventually loop back to the starting point, much like walking around the surface of the Earth.

Based on measurements of the cosmic microwave background by the Planck space telescope, space is extremely flat. If the universe does loop back on itself, the curvature is so slight that the entire Universe must be at least 250 times wider than the observable universe.

Assuming the universe is exactly that minimum possible size, physicists can calculate when that colossal volume was squeezed into a space just 93 billion light-years across. Rewinding the expansion until the universe was 250 times smaller corresponds to a cosmic redshift of about 249. At this redshift, the universe was heavily dominated by matter and had been expanding for only 3.5 million years.

If the universe is finite, the entire cosmos was smaller than today's visible universe 13.79 billion years ago, back when it was just 3.5 million years old.

Why do some films choose to shoot scenes spontaneously in crowded areas like NYC without getting permits?

Getting the permits necessary to shut down New York City streets and other public areas can be extremely expensive. And if your film does not have a budget for that, you simply film your scene the best you can while New Yorkers go about their lives.

To give you an idea how expensive we’re talking, during the filming of Vanilla Sky it cost $1 million to seal off Times Square for three hours and film a single scene there.

(Times Square, all closed off for the filming of Vanilla Sky, one Sunday morning in November.)

Now Times Square is a much bigger lift than other places in the City, but it helps put things in perspective.

To shut a street down completely, you will need a plan to deal with the traffic problem you’re about to cause, permits to do so and the NYPD to do all the work of traffic control and pedestrian diversion for you. And you can bet you’re paying for the NYPD officers to block the street off.

Because this is a major pain in the neck for New York City, and you will pay through your nose for the privilege.

Instead, you can simply go out and film right on an open street, no permits necessary. But this does mean you will deal with the crowds and the traffic whether you like it or not.

And trust me, this can be an issue.

(“Hey, I’m walking here.” Though the real incident behind this scene wasn’t used in the film, the production recreated it using a rented cab with an extra behind the wheel to get a better take a bit more safely.)

One of the most famous scenes in film history was improvised after a real life taxi nearly ran down Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman as they crossed a busy New York street during the filming of Midnight Cowboy.

What are the best Korean horror-romance dramas of all time?

If romance alone isn't enough for you and you need some horror, suspense and chaos too, this list is for you.

Here we go………

Vincenzo
This one is just pure entertainment. Mafia, revenge, comedy, action and romance all packed into one drama. The characters are crazy, the story keeps getting better and Vincenzo himself is just iconic.

Flower of Evil
If you want something that will keep you hooked till the end, watch this. The suspense, the twists and the whole mystery behind the story are so good. And the romance actually makes the whole story even more interesting.

Happiness
Zombies, survival and romance? Yes please. The relationship between the leads is honestly one of my favourite things about this drama. They literally stand by each other through everything and that makes their relationship feel so real. This one is seriously good, it’ll make you wish you could forget it all just so you could watch it again for the first time.

Hotel Del Luna
This drama is just beautiful. The whole ghost story, the visuals, the characters and obviously the romance. It has this very dreamy feeling while watching it, but keep some tissues because it will definitely hurt you by the end.

All of Us Are Dead
A zombie outbreak in a school... because apparently school life wasn't stressful enough lol. It has action, friendship, survival and romance, and some moments will genuinely break your heart. You’ll get attached to the characters before you even realise it.

Healer
This is for anyone who loves action, mystery and romance. The story is really interesting and the chemistry between the leads is sooo good. Honestly, I can never get tired of recommending this one.

The K2
If you like action, revenge, politics and a little romance on the side, give this one a try. The action scenes are really good and Ji Chang-wook is obviously a big reason to watch it.

Come and Hug Me
This one is not for the weak-hearted. The story is dark and emotional, but the romance is what makes it even more heartbreaking. Two people trying to find their way back to each other despite everything that happened to their families. Definitely worth watching if you like emotional thrillers.

What is the only continent that lies in all four hemispheres?

The dividing line between the northern and southern hemisphere is the equator.

As you can see, the equator cross three continents, South America, Africa, and Asia:

The dividing line between the eastern and western hemisphere is the prime meridian on one side of the globe and 180th meridian on the other side (typically referred to as the international date line.

As you can see, the prime meridian crosses three continents, Europe, Africa, and Antarctica:

The only continent that is crossed by both the equator and the prime meridian is Africa.

The exact point where the equator crosses the prime meridian (0°N/S and 0°E/W) is in the Gulf of Guinea, which lies off the coast of west Africa.

EDIT TO ADD (and thanks to Ben Fielding for pointing this out):

Kiribati is a sovereign, independent island nation in the south-central Pacific:

It lies at it lies at 1.87° N to 3.37° S latitude, and 157.36° W to 173.00° E longitude. As you can see on the map above, both the equator and antimeridian (180°W) cross it. The means that part of Kiribati is in the northern hemisphere and part is in the southern hemisphere, and part is in the eastern hemisphere and part is in the western hemisphere. While Kiribati has a total land area is only 313 square miles (811 square km), the total breadth of all the islands expands 2,400 miles (3,900 km),

Since Kiribati is considered part of Oceania, that means Oceania is a second continent that lies in all four hemispheres.

Why is Garuda considered the vehicle of Lord Vishnu?

Garuda is the celestial falcon, who is the chariot of Bhagavan Vishnu. At the time of pralaya, only Bhagavan Vishnu was there. Bhagavan Vishnu wished to create the universe. A 14-petalled lotus emerged from Bhagavan Vishnu’s navel. From that navel came Chaturmukha Brahma. Bhagavan instructed Chaturmukha Brahma to perform the task of creation. Lord Brahma divided Himself into two parts from which two people came, namely Svayambhu Manu and Shataroopa Devi, who were the first man and woman respectively in the universe. They both had three daughters by name Akooti, Prasooti and Devahooti.

Following Bhagavan’s instructions, Brahma gave birth to children, who were born from his mind for continuing the creation. That’s why they were known as Brahma Maanasa Putras. Out of these were the 4 Kumaaras, Sage Marichi, and Daksha Prajapati. Daksha Prajapati was married to Prasooti, the daughter of Svayambhu Manu. From Daksha Prajapati and Prasooti came 14 daughters. Out of 14 daughters, 13 daughters were married to Sage Kashyapa, the son of Sage Marichi. Whereas the 14th daughter, Satidevi, was married to Lord Shiva.

Now, out of these 13 wives of Sage Kashyapa, Aditi gave birth to the devatas, Diti gave birth to the demons, Danu gave birth to the Daanavas, and so on. Now, in this answer, we require only two wives of Sage Kashyapa, namely Vinata and Kadru. They had worshipped their husband, Sage Kashyapa, with great devotion. Sage Kashyapa, pleased by their devotion, asked them to ask for a boon. Kadru asked for 1000 powerful serpent sons. Whereas Vinata asked for only 2 sons who were more powerful than all 1000 sons of Kadru combined. Sage Kashyapa blessed them with the same.

As per the blessing, Kadru laid 1000 eggs, from which the serpents led by Vaasuki, Aadishesha, etc. were born. Whereas Vinata laid 2 eggs, from which two were born - Garuda and Aruna. Aruna became the charioteer of Suryadeva. Vinata and Kadru were rivals from the beginning itself. During the Samudra Mathana, a horse named Uchhaishravas came out from the Milky Ocean. Now, Kadru and Vinata got into an argument over whether this Uchhaishravas horse was black or white. Kadru said it was black, whereas Vinata said it was white.

Both placed a bet that if Kadru won, Vinata would be her maid, whereas if Vinata won, Kadru would be her maid. Kadru, for the sake of winning the bet, asked her sons to cover the Uchhaishravas horse so that it looked black and she would win. Note that Aadishesha had already left his brothers and had gone to do penance to please Lord Brahma. Now, these serpents disagreed with Kadru to do the same. Enraged by this disobedience by her own sons, she cursed the snakes to be burnt in the fire. These snakes were later burnt in the Sarpa Satra done by King Janamejaya, the son of King Parikshita. The serpents agreed and then covered the horse, and thus from far it looked black in color, and then Kadru finally won deceitfully, and Vinata had to become her maid.

Vinata was treated as a maidservant by Kadru and her sons. Kadru used to order Vinata to do heavy tasks. She even once asked Vinata to carry her on Vinata’s back and cross the ocean to a distant island, which was the island of the serpents. Vinata had to fly across the ocean carrying Kadru on her back. She even used to torture Garuda by ordering him to carry her sons on a pleasure trip on Garuda’s back. So, they were tortured a lot by Kadru and her sons. Garuda couldn’t see his mother suffer like this, and Vinata too couldn’t see her son suffering like this. When Garuda grew up, He asked the serpent sons what ransom they would take to stop torturing his mother.

The serpent sons demanded Amrita. Garuda, agreeing to that, flew to Svarga. His power was so much that He defeated Indra and other devatas in Svarga, bypassed all the securities in the Svarga, which were kept for the protection of Amrita, and then took the Amrita from there and came out of Svarga. There Bhagavan Vishnu appeared in front of Him. He saw that Garuda hadn’t drunk the Amrita out of selfishness. On seeing His selflessness and his struggle to save his mother, Bhagavan Vishnu was pleased. Lord Vishnu asked Garuda to ask for a boon.

Garuda asked for two boons, namely: To become ageless without drinking Amrita and to be above Bhagavan Vishnu on the flag of His chariot. Lord Vishnu, on this, said, “So be it.” That’s why Bhagavan Vishnu is known as Garuda Dhvaja. Lord Vishnu instructed Garuda to be His vehicle. Garuda joyfully agreed to be the Vaahana of Bhagavan Vishnu. So, Bhagavan Vishnu accepted Garuda as His vehicle because of His sheer selflessness, kindness, and devotion towards Him. Thus, Garuda became the vehicle of Bhagavan Vishnu.

Bhagavan Vishnu also has a name ‘Vishva ’, which is the first name of Bhagavan Vishnu in the Vishnu Sahasranaama. One of the meanings of the name Vishva is:

1. Vishanti Asmin Ananta kalyaana gunaaha iti Vishvam: The one who is the abode of all auspicious qualities.

2. Vishati iti Vishvam: The one who is all-pervading Bhagavan.

3. Vina Garudena Shvayate Iti Vishvam: The one who has Garuda as His vehicle. ‘Vi’ in Vina stands for Garuda, the celestial falcon, which is the chariot of Bhagavan Vishnu.

Since Bhagavan has Garuda as His Vaahana, He is also known as Vishvam. Actually, there are 100 meanings for the word Vishva, but these are a few meanings of the name Vishva.

Now, when Garuda brought the Amrita from the heavens, He kept it in front of the serpents, His step-brothers, on the Kusha grass. He advised them, “You cannot consume this Amrita when you are impure. First go and have a bath and become pure, then come and have it. Now, that I have brought Amrita for you, release my mother from slavery.” The serpents were overjoyed, and they declared Vinata free from slavery. They went for the bath. Here, while coming from Svarga, Garuda had made a pact with Indra. So, as the serpents went for a bath in the river, Indra came down, took the Amrita, and flew back to Svarga.

The serpents came back and saw there was no Amrita. They came and started licking the Kusha grass because they thought some drops of Amrita may have fallen. As the blade of the Kusha grass was sharp, it divided their tongues into two parts. That’s why the snakes or serpents have split tongues. And since the Kusha grass had the touch of Amrita Kalasha, they gained the property of shedding their old skin and growing a new skin. This is even today observed in snakes and serpents. Thus, this was the story of Garuda, as to how his life was, how he became the vehicle of Bhagavan Vishnu, and how he cleverly prevented the serpents from drinking the Amrita, thus gaining multiple boons from the Supreme Bhagavan Vishnu Himself.

He is equal to Aadishesha and Rudra in power, Vishnu Bhakti and knowledge, as stated in the Garuda Purana. His wife is Souparni Devi.
