Why did Krishna let the Draupadi vastaharan sequence happen when he knew what happened everywhere?

Good Question. There is a reason why Krishna let the Draupadi Vastraharan sequence happen. He knew what happened everywhere because He is the all-knowing, all-pervading Lord Vishnu Himself. This answer is based on the Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya of SriMadhvacharya. The few reasons why Krishna allowed the Draupadi Vastraharan to happen are:

TO EXPOSE THE EVIL NATURE OF DURYODHANA AND THE KAURAVAS
From the beginning itself, Duryodhana and his brothers had been troubling the Pandavas. Their major aim was to kill Bheemasena because He was the strongest among all the Pandavas and was their backbone. So, Duryodhana thought to kill Bheemasena first, and then he would look for the other Pandava brothers. For that, Duryodhana tried a lot to kill Bheemasena by feeding him a laddoo that had halahala visha in it. Shakuni had pleased Shukracharya and had gotten some poison from him. That didn’t work on Bheemasena. Then he tried to put snakes on Bheemasena to kill him. But Bheemasena broke the fangs of the snakes and killed the owner of the snake.

He even threw Bheemasena into the Pramaanakoti, a deep place within the Ganga River. From there, Bheemasena also came out unaffected. These were some incidents that weren’t very famous at that time. He even sent and tried to kill the Pandavas in the Vaaranavata Laakshaagraha, but nothing happened. Then, people also cursed Duryodhana and all. But now, when they tried to do Draupadi Vastraharana, it was not just the vastraharana of the princess of Panchala, or the daughter of Drupada, but the queen of the whole Aryavarta or Bhaaratadesha.

Krishna let that happen because He wanted to expose the evil and deceitful nature of Duryodhana, Dushasana, Karna, and Shakuni. Why? So that people would know how evil they were. This was necessary because, in the future, the way in which the Kauravas, Bhishma, Drona, and Karna died should not be disputed and should be clear to the people as to why these people were killed unjustly. Actually, what Krishna did in the Mahabharata yuddha is completely correct because Adharmik people must be killed by using Adharma, and that is Dharma. If you kill Adharmis by Dharma, it is a sin. The Paingi Shruti itself says this.

TO DISTRIBUTE THE PUNYA OF THE RAAJASUYA YAGYA TO THE PAANDAVAS
Dharmaraja did the Raajasuya yagya. But the fruit of the Raajasuya yagya was such that Dharmaraja was not capable of sustaining that much punya. Therefore, to distribute it among the Pandavas, Krishna made this happen. SriMadhvacharya says that the fruit of the Raajasuya Yagya is Brahma Padavi. Also, Bheemasena is Vayu avatara. The Garuda Purana itself says:

अतो रोचननामासौ मरुदंशः प्रकीर्तितः ।
रामावतारे हनुमान्रामकार्यार्थसाधकः ॥
स एव भीमसेनस्तु जातो भूम्यां महाबलः ॥
He (the cosmic soul) is known as the amsha (portion/incarnation) of Marut (Vayu). In the Rama avatara, he became Hanuman to accomplish the divine tasks of Shri Rama. The very same entity was later born on Earth as the highly powerful Bheemasena.
[Garuda Purana]

So, here it was Bheemasena Himself who was Hanuman in His previous birth (as stated in the Garuda Purana). Yes, Hanuman is the elder brother to Bheemasena in one sense, because both are known as the sons of Vayu. But both are also incarnations of Vayudeva. Plus, there is no difference between Vayudeva and His avatars. So, Hanuma is the same as Vayudeva; Bheemasena is the same as Vayudeva. So, this Vayudeva is eligible for Brahma Padavi. For this, the Valmiki Ramayana is itself the proof. It says:

Indeed, in all branches of learning and in the performance of austerities, this Hanuman rivals even Brihaspati, the preceptor of the Gods. This very person, who is the knower of the deep meaning of the nine systems of grammar, will definitely become Brahma in the future by your grace.

[Valmiki Ramayana, Uttara Kanda, Sarga 36, Verse 48]

Thus, it is Vayudeva who is eligible for the Brahma Padavi. The previous Brahma will attain Moksha. And Bheemasena is Vayudeva’s incarnation. Even the Vayu Purana also states that Bheemasena is Vayudeva’s avatara. So, the Raajasuya yagya’s maximum punya should reach Bheemasena and Draupadi, because Draupadi is the incarnation of Bhaarati Devi, the wife of Vayudeva. So, She will be the future Sarasvati Devi. So, therefore, for the transfer of the maximum punya to Bheemasena and Draupadi, Krishna made that happen. That’s why Dharmaraja was silent during the Draupadi Vastraharana episode, and because he was silent, the punya got transferred to the other Pandavas.

Therefore, it was Bheemasena who thoroughly criticized the Kauravas. He even criticized Dharmaraja by asking Sahadeva to bring fire to burn Dharmaraja’s hands. Arjuna stops Bheemasena and calms Him down. Bheemasena says to Arjuna, “I won’t do this literally, but I am doing this because, even though elders commit anything bad, we must not keep silent but should criticize them. I am just criticizing him, but won’t do that literally.” At this, Duryodhana says, “If you accept that everything which is going on here happened due to Dharmaraja, then I will leave all of you.” At this, Bheemasena said, “Nobody is as Dharmatma as my elder brother Dharmaraja. Plus, I am the elder brother to all of you. If you have guts, then come, fight me.”

He even vowed to break the thighs of Duryodhana and tear the chest of Dushasana very aptly (not as a fanatic, but I felt it was very apt). He did criticize the Kauravas. Plus, Draupadi was thoroughly devoted to Krishna and remembered Krishna throughout the Vastraharana episode. Therefore, the maximum punya was given to Bheemasena and Draupadi. Plus, the Pandavas had remained silent out of respect for Dharmaraja. The Pandavas, led by Bheemasena and Arjuna, could have destroyed the Kauravas, but Dharmaraja, with his eye-coordination, had stopped them and asked them to sit down. Because previously he had vowed that he wouldn’t scold anyone, wouldn’t abuse anyone, wouldn’t refuse anyone, and wouldn’t criticize anyone.

TO TRANSFER THE TAPAS SHAKTI OF THE KURU VRUDDHAS TO THE PANDAVAS:
The Kuruvruddhas like Bhishma, Drona, Krupa, Dhritarashtra, etc. had remained silent during the Draupadi Vastraharana. Why was it like that? Because SriMadhvacharya explains that Kali Purusha had entered all of them. Only a few people were there who were not affected by Kali Purusha. These were the Pandavas (except Dharmaraja), Draupadi, Kunti, and Vidura. Rest all were full of Kali Purusha’s Avesha. SriMadhvacharya mentions this in the Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya. But why could Kali Purusha enter people except some people? Because all these, like Kunti, the rest of the Pandavas, Draupadi, and Vidura, had Nishthura Dharma. Nishthura Dharma means, Adharmi must be punished, and Dharma must be followed at any time. But Dharmaraja had Daakshinya Dharma, which means his heart used to melt at anyone’s plea or cry.

So, because Kunti, Vidura, etc. had perfect Kathina/ Nishthura Dharma nishtha, they were not affected by Kali Purusha baadha. So, due to this, others except these people were affected by Kali Purusha Avesha and hence remained silent. Duryodhana himself was Kali Purusha. The Mahabharata itself mentions it. So, he was now controlling the whole dyuta sabha except these few people. So, since these elders or kuruvruddhas were silent, for that reason, the tapas shakti had transferred to the Pandavas. These Kuruvruddhas were great tapasvis and knowledgeable personalities. But due to this one mistake, their punya or tapas shakti was transferred to the Pandavas.

Thus, the Pandavas had their own tapas shakti and punya, plus they had the Kuruvruddhas ’ punya with them, plus they too had the Rajasuya’s yagya’s punya (maximum to Bheemasena and Draupadi). So, that’s another reason why Krishna let the Draupadi Vastraharan episode happen. Plus, Krishna Himself protected Draupadi by giving Her Akshayavastra.

TO INCREASE THE SINS OF DURYODHANA AND KAURAVAS:
There is a rule that, until a fixed number of papas are done, they aren’t killed. So, Duryodhana was already a sinner. At birth, the Mahabharata mentions that he cried like a donkey. The other donkeys from the surroundings had gathered and were braying aloud on hearing Duryodhana’s cry. And at that time, Vidura himself tells Dhritarashtra to kill that baby because it can lead to the destruction of the whole Kuruvamsha. But Dhritarashtra wanted to be reputed as the father of 100 sons. So, he didn’t kill him at that time. From the beginning, Duryodhana was jealous and was a sinner.

Because of this act of Duryodhana, he should not just go to hell and come back, but he should receive eternal hell itself, where he stays for an unlimited period of time, experiencing eternal sorrow. So, that many sins he must incur. So, since they incurred a lot of sin by their acts, they were sent to hell. Though Duryodhana first attained heaven because he had some sukha prarabdha, he was pushed to Andha Tamas hell afterwards. Plus, by this, Krishna wanted to warn us that, ‘Now that you have seen the cruel acts of these sinners, don’t accuse me of what I did in the Mahabharata Yuddha. Because Adharmis must be killed by using Adharma and not Dharma. So, what I (Krishna) did in the Mahabharata yuddha was completely correct.’

NOTE: Thus, we must not just read the Mahabharata as a political history of the fight between the Kauravas and the Pandavas. But we should see the spiritual meaning behind it, because it is not just a normal history book, but our divine history, which is real. The Puranas are for the support the incidents that are not mentioned in the Itihasas. They help in connecting the dots if we get any confusion in the Itihasas. Therefore, I also used the Puranas. SriMadhvacharya, had read the Mahabharata granthas across India, and had identified the corrections and interpolations, and then wrote the Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya. Therefore, understanding the spiritual meaning behind every incident is important.

Hope this helps!

Why did Indrajit not become Indra after defeating Indralok? Did Lanka offer a better lifestyle?

Indrajit defeated Indra simply because Brahma punished Indra for his crimes against Ahalya. These stories are highly inspired from Brahmana layers of vedas where Indra lost his position due to killing vritra and visvadevas .

It's directly mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana

  • O Vasava! You have been seized by the enemy because of that and not because of any other reason. Control yourself and quickly perform a vaishnava sacrifice. You will go to heaven after you have purified yourself through that sacrifice. O Indra of the gods! Your son has not been destroyed in the great battle. His grandfather has taken him and hidden him inside the great ocean.” Hearing this, the great Indra performed a vaishnava sacrifice. The gods again went to heaven and brought it under their control.

Brahmana layers of vedas also mention why Indra is excluded. The stories of ahalya and indra are inspired by the Brahmana layers of vedas where Prajapati , Rudra and Vishnu surpassed Indra in greatness.

  • “I know it from the fact, that Indra had been excluded by the gods (from having any share in the sacrifices). For he had scorned' Visvarupa, the son of Tvastar, cast down Vritra (and killed him), thrown pious men (yatis) before the jackals (or wolves) and killed the Arurmaghas, and rebuked (his teacher) Brihaspati.
  • On account of these faults, Indra was forthwith excluded from participation in the Soma beverage. And after Indra had been excluded in this way from the Soma, all the Ksattriyas (at whose head he is) were likewise excluded from it. But he was allowed a share in it afterwards, having stolen the Soma from Tvastar. But the Ksattriya race remains excluded from the Soma beverage to this day.

Puranic legends of Brahma getting beheaded by Shiva’s kalabhairava also comes from the brahmana layers of vedas

Why does Vishnu manifest in non-human forms like a fish or a lion-man instead of appearing only in a human likeness?

Bhagwan Vishnu does not incarnate only to resemble humans because he assumes that form which is appropriate to the purpose of the avatāra.

We need to understand that what we call God, it’s not a human being but the Supreme Energy depicted in various forms.

So that divine energy which is pervasive and known as “Vishnu”, it can manifest itself in any form as and when needed. There is no such rule that the divine shall be in the form only a human.

He manifested in the form of Matsya, the fish since he had to save the creation from the massive cosmic flood. Since flood is related to water 🌊, he manifested as the divine fish.

Then when the Asura Hiranyakshyap attained the boon from Brahma that he neither by any human/man nor by any animal/beast, Neither during the day nor at night (specifically circumvented at twilight/dusk), Neither indoors nor outdoors (circumvented on a threshold/porch step). Neither on earth/ground nor in the sky/space. By no weapon forged or any living/non-living object. Since these all conditions were the part of boon, the asura was immune to death from all those factors. So upon identifying the loophole in the asura’s boon from Brahma, Vishnu assumes the form of Narasimha which was half man half lion and he picked those minute conditions which Hiranyakshipu couldn't mention in his boon and then slayed the evil asura and saved his devotee Prahlad.

So him taking the form of an animal isn't something unusual as the divine is pervasive not just present only in humans.

Then of course, Narayan as Shri Ram the ideal man (Maryada Purushottam) is one of the most worshipped forms of him.

And Shri Krishna, a very very popular form of Narayan.

So the human like forms of him are the most popular ones, but the animal like forms too had a lot of significance in his aim of sustaining the creation, restoring the balance of nature and protecting the world.

नमो नारायण 🙏

Can I worship Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati together as my Ishta Devata?

 Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya!

Of course, in fact, you worship both if you worship one because Shiva-Shakti are nondifferent from one another and are known together as Arhanarishvara.

They are the Father and Mother of the universe, respectively, and the material universe represents their union.

This material manifestation is the union of Shiva-Shakti.

liṅga-yony-ātmikā jātā imā māheśvarī-prajāḥ

Translation:

“All offspring of the consort of the great lord [Maheśvara] of this mundane world are of the nature of the embodiment of the mundane masculine and feminine generative organs.” - Brahma Samhita 5.9

Shiva represents the unchanging, passive masculine aspect – Shaktiman/energetic.

Ma Parvati represents the dynamic, active feminine aspect – Shakti/energy.

You cannot separate them – without Shakti, Shiva becomes “Shav” (a dead body), and without Shiva, Shakti is not controlled or tamed.

  • When the masculine aspect is God, the feminine is Goddess.
  • When the masculine is Pure Consciousness, the feminine is Pure Energy.
  • When the masculine is Purity, the feminine is Impurity.
  • When the masculine is Light, the feminine is Darkness.
  • When the masculine is Soul, the feminine is Body.
  • When the masculine is Witness (passive), the feminine is Actor (active)
  • When the masculine is Cause, the feminine is Effect.
  • When the masculine is Subject, the feminine is Object.
  • When the masculine is Energetic (Shaktiman), the feminine is Energy (Shakti).
  • When the masculine is Master, the feminine is Servant.
  • When the masculine is God, the feminine is Devotee.
  • When the masculine is Goal, the feminine is Path.

The Shiva Purana describes Devi as the nondifferent energy that emerged from Lord Shiva:

yāmāhurbrahmavidvāṃso devīṃ divyaguṇānvitām parasya paramāṃ śaktiṃ bhavasya paramātmana yasyāṃ na khalu vidyaṃte janma mṛtyujarādayaḥ yā bhavānī bhavasyāṃgātsamāvirabhavatkila yasyā vāco nivartante manasā ceṃdriyaiḥ saha sā bharturvapuṣo bhāgājjāteva samadṛśyata yā sā jagadidaṃ kṛtsnaṃ mahimnā vyāpya tiṣṭhati śarīriṇīva sa devī vicitraṃ samalakṣyata sarvaṃ jagadidaṃ caiṣā saṃmohayati māyayā īśvarātsaiva jātābhūdajātā paramārthataḥ na yasyā paramo bhāvaḥ surāṇāmapi gocaraḥ viśvāmareśvarī caiva vibhaktā bharturaṃgataḥ

Translation:

“It is the goddess whom scholars of the Vedas call the ParaŚakti endowed with the divine qualities of Śiva the Paramatma. It was the goddess in whom there is neither birth, nor death nor old age nor other similar things. It was the goddess who manifested herself from the body of Śiva. She from whom words recede along with the mind and the sense-organs, appeared to be born of a part of the body of her husband. The goddess who pervades everything through her greatness was seen like a wonderfully embodied being. It is she who fascinates the entire universe with her Māyā. Really she is unborn but she appeared to be born of Śiva. Her great form is not visible even to the gods. Such a great goddess of all the gods was divided in the body of her lord.” - Shiva Purana 7.1.16.7–12

Hare Krishna

Who is more powerful, Rama or Krishna based on their avatars? Why do you think so?

They are pretty much the same and we should not distinguish between the avatars.

Rama proved his superiority over the world by liberating Taraka from the curse of Agatsya. Vishwamitra clearly mentions that only Rama is capable of dispelling her curse from three worlds.

  • O descendant of the Raghu lineage! She is so enveloped in the curse that in the three worlds, no man except you is capable of standing up to her.

Similarly, Rama displayed the superiority over other gods when he punished Jayantha.

Indra’s son roamed around all the three worlds and couldn't find a protector.

  • You picked up a blade of darbha grass and invoked brahmastra on it. It blazed like the flaming fire of destruction and headed in the direction of the bird. You flung the blazing darbha towards the crow. The blazing darbha followed the crow. It was abandoned by its father and by all the gods and the maharshis. It circled around the three worlds, but could not find a protector. O one who is a refuge! It fell down on the ground and sought refuge with you. O Kakutstha! Though it deserved to be killed, because of your compassion, you saved it

Granted moksha to jatayu

  • There are destinations for those who do not return and for those who donate land. O great-spirited king of the eagles! With the rites of purification performed by me, take my leave and go to those supreme worlds.’ Saying this, he placed the lord of the birds on that blazing pyre.

Rama lived in an era where people had higher spirtual power and they could easily recognise him as god Narayana.

Kishna on the other hand more often needs to display more of his divinity such as universal form.

They are both one and the same . We should not do stupid comparison by comparing their achievements.

Have there always been 9 planets in our solar system or did more exist at one time ?

We just found stronger evidence for yet another planet. It was a super-Earth that fell into the Sun when the solar system was young.

This is in addition to the Neptune-sized planet that was between Saturn and Uranus and was ejected.

Planets initially form in the protoplanetary disk from gas and dust, but as they grow larger, more and more massive rocks and eventually planetoids collide to contribute to their mass. This process ended for Earth when the Mars-sized planet Theia collided with it, forming the Moon.

There might also have been a huge world the size of Neptune between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus, and it was ejected. Some earlier studies linked this event to the Late Heavy Bombardment around 3.8 billion years ago. In this model, ejecting this planet disrupted asteroids and comets, which rained down on the remaining worlds, including Earth. However, more recent research suggests the ejection may have happened earlier and may not have been linked to the Late Heavy Bombardment.

This month, computer simulations suggest that the Sun swallowing a super-Earth planet within less than 50 million years after the solar system formed could explain some known anomalies of our star.

The lost planet might have been between 5 and 10 times as massive as Earth, and it enriched the Sun with heavy elements just below the present-day convection zone. This explains its helioseismicity, unusually low lithium abundance, and convection-zone depth. Computer simulations that tried to explain these issues by enriching the Sun with just dust couldn’t reproduce what is observed. Only swallowing a super-Earth planet agrees with these characteristics of our Sun.

Furthermore, we already know that close to 5000 systems with exoplanets and super-Earths are frequent in close orbits to their stars. The existence of a swallowed planet then confirms that our system isn’t unusual; it simply lost such a world early in its history.

Is Kamadev the son of the goddess Lakshmi, not just as the Pradyumna son of Rukmini?

Yes, Kamadeva is considered the son of Goddess Lakshmi (Shri).

81. You are the glorious lustre in the abode of Upendra (Viṣṇu). O sole mother of Madana(Kama), you are the moonlight in the Moon, O goddess with a face captivating the mind like the Moon. You are the splendour in the Sun. You shine with all refulgence in all the three worlds. O Lakṣmī, the sole refuge of those who bow down always, be pleased with me.

—Skanda Mahapuran, Kashi-khanda purvardha, chapter 5

In the Dwapara Yuga, he was reborn as the son of Maa Lakshmi (in her incarnation as Rukmini).

Siva said:

17-19. Lovely lady, don’t worry! You shouldn’t be embarrassed! Young girl, simply by you recollecting him, Kama will become visible. He is called “Mind-born” because he is thought of in the mind. He will fulfil your desires and you will become highly thought of, because when he(Kama) will be reborn in Laksmi by Visnu, your husband will become famous amongst people under the name of Pradyumna. He will live, Illustrious woman! Go now to your home!

—Ganesa Purana, chapter 89

What's the biggest misconception in the Mahabharata?

The biggest misconception is that people believe that Maa Draupadi was the main reason for the Kurukshetra war.

Whereas in reality, it was Duryodhana.

Sage Vyasa had called her faultless. She is a part of the Panchakanya, which includes Ahalya, Goddess Sita, Tara, and Mandodari. Lord Krishna considered her as his sister and always supported her.

Why is Bajirao Mastani Love story famous even though Mastani was a home wrecker?

Mastani Bai

Mastani Bai’s origins are highly debatable but the popular speculation is that she was daughter of Raja Chattrasal born from his Persian concubine. In Tarikh-i-Muhammadshahi, it's mentioned that she was a Kanchani (skilled in many arts like dancing, music, riding etc.).

She was second wife of Peshwa Bajirao and they got married shortly after his help to Raja Chattrasal in his Bundelkhand campaign against Bangash.

Polygamy was a known norm in that era although her origins was the reason that made Peshwa’s family highly uncomfortable. It's said that they blamed Mastani for his habits of drinking and eating non-veg although there are no evidences available which suggests that Mastani encouraged him to do it or it was just his warrior lifestyle. So, technically Mastani can't be blamed for being a homewrecker although Peshwas rarely were polygamous with few exceptions because they technically were not kings but also polygamy was not forbidden to them.

Bajirao kept loving his wife Kashibai and they had many children together. When Bajirao and Mastani died, Kashibai brought up their son Shamsher Bahadur like her own son.

The movie actually did damage to Bajirao and Mastani by showing them hurting Kashibai by cheating behind her back which actually didn't happen in history. Kashibai and Mastani kept their distance with each other. Bajirao was a warrior who mostly remained in battlefield and hardly had time to think about kitchen politics. Mastani was briefly house arrested by Chimaji Appa because they suspected that Mastani was doing harm to Bajirao by making him indulge in unorthodox lifestyle which was not expected from a Peshwa. Shahu Maharaj wanted Peshwa to remain happy at any cost as he was the one who was winning wars and keeping the Empire intact and therefore was not in favour of keeping Mastani away from Bajirao.

What historical evidence suggests the Southwest USA drought could last 500 years?

Deep beneath the lakes of the American Southwest sit ancient, fully rooted tree stumps. For those forests to grow, the region had to endure extreme droughts lasting up to 500 years.

While the submerged stumps offer stark visual proof of dried-up basins, the most precise historical evidence for long-term aridity comes from dendrochronology, the study of tree rings. High-altitude bristlecone pines in the Great Basin can live for thousands of years, and the width of their annual growth rings provides an exact, year-by-year record of regional moisture. These rings reveal a period known as the Medieval Climate Anomaly, stretching roughly from 900 to 1300 CE, which featured recurring megadroughts more severe than anything in modern recorded history.

This aridity is physically etched into the region’s archaeology. In the Four Corners area, the Ancestral Puebloans built complex, thriving agricultural societies centered around massive stone structures. Around the late 13th century—coinciding precisely with a severe, multi-decadal dry spell in the tree ring record known as the Great Drought—these civilizations collapsed. Without enough consistent rainfall to support their crops, the inhabitants abandoned their settlements entirely.

The Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde National Park contains stone dwellings that the Ancestral Puebloans abandoned during a multidecadal drought in the late 13th century. Photo by Tobi 87 is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

The submerged tree stumps mentioned earlier—found in bodies of water like Mono Lake and Lake Tahoe—confirm the sheer duration of these dry periods. Because these stumps are rooted in the lakebed rather than washed in as driftwood, radiocarbon dating proves that water levels remained drastically lower than they are today for consecutive centuries, allowing entire forests to mature in what are now deep basins.

Sediment cores extracted from these same lakes confirm the timeline. Layers of specific diatoms and pollen show that between 4,000 and 7,000 years ago during the mid-Holocene, the Southwest experienced a profound dry period where lakes shrank into dusty plains or hyper-saline pools for up to 500 years at a time. The historical baseline of the Southwest includes centuries of extreme aridity, meaning a half-millennium drought is part of the region's ancient norm.

Why did Lord Shiva take a form and face so many struggles to unite with Shakti when in reality, they are inseparable and one?

That is the Lila. The whole creation itself is a cosmic play. The struggle is mandatory because if everything had to be perfect then the creation itself would not have any purpose. Perfection is the absolute oneness of Shiva and Shakti, the eternal reality. Shiva and Shakti in absolute reality is one and only Ultimate Force. Non duality (Advaita) is that inseparable state which is perfect in its own.

The struggle or hardship faced by them in their avatar lila is the actual play, it’s like a movie. The One absolute reality manifests into two (or multiple forms considering all the deities in Sanatan Dharma), then they meet each other, marry, then separate due to circumstances (essential part of lila) and then reunite.

It is because Shakti or Parvati in her most transcendental form is described as Lalita Tripurasundari. This name itself tells everything, “Lalita” means playful. So she is that playful side of the detached (Vairagi) Shiva himself. When it is a play, there need to be perfect or smooth events.. struggles, separation and reunion would be an integral part of lila.

Shiva originally is dispassionate and in his own non-dual state of eternal bliss. But Shakti, his own projection causes this entire play. Hence the static consciousness Shiva has to engage himself in the play with his own dynamic power. That is the actual purpose of all the events, hardships, love story and other lilas of Shiva and Shakti. These are the two sides of the same coin and present in all the beings, Shiva refers to the soul, the existence or the inner self which is the observer and Shakti is the executive power, the divine energy because of which the body of a person is able to do the action. Together as one inseparable force, it is the complete reality.

Why do pirates not attack cruise ships?

When Somali pirates fired rocket-propelled grenades at the Seabourn Spirit in 2005, they expected an easy ransom. Instead, they learned why a floating city is a tactical nightmare.

The primary defense of a cruise ship is its speed. Pirates operate out of small, lightweight skiffs designed to evade radar detection. These skiffs struggle in heavy ocean swells and max out around 25 knots in perfect conditions. Commercial cargo ships and oil tankers usually cruise at a sluggish 10 to 15 knots, making them relatively easy to catch. Modern cruise ships, however, routinely cruise between 20 and 24 knots. When a captain spots an approaching skiff on radar, they can simply accelerate and leave the attackers in their wake.

Even if a pirate skiff manages to pull alongside a cruise ship, boarding it is another matter entirely. Fully loaded oil tankers and bulk carriers sit very low in the water, allowing pirates to easily throw grappling hooks and scale short ladders onto the deck.

The Symphony of the Seas docked at a pier in Nassau, Bahamas. Photo by Yoeth Gallopers is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Cruise ships have a massive "freeboard"—the distance from the waterline to the lowest open deck. Scaling a sheer steel wall that rises five to ten stories straight up, all while the ship is moving at 22 knots through ocean chop, is practically impossible.

Cruise ships are also outfitted with active, non-lethal defenses. After the Seabourn Spirit incident, many ships adopted the Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD), a sonic weapon that blasts a focused beam of ear-splitting noise to incapacitate anyone approaching in a small boat. Security teams, which are often composed of former military personnel, are trained to deploy high-pressure fire hoses to flood attacking skiffs and push them away from the hull.

Ultimately, the logistics of piracy make cruise ships a terrible target. A successful pirate operation relies on holding cargo, the ship, and a small, manageable crew of 15 to 25 people for ransom. The ship's corporate owner or its insurance company will often quietly negotiate a multimillion-dollar payout. Taking over a cruise ship means trying to control up to 5,000 panicking tourists from dozens of different countries. It is a hostage nightmare that guarantees an immediate, overwhelming tactical response from international naval special forces rather than a quiet insurance settlement.
