Much before “It's her choice” made headlines, Nehad Dhupia took the media by storm by her b*ld scenes in the film Julie (2004). When she was asked about those scenes in the film she made a very shocking statement.
she had made her career with some b*ld movie like Julie and Sheesha. In an interview she defended her choice of films saying that at this point only two things sell “s*x and SRK”. She said that because SRK is not part of Julie she had to make up for it through the other S.
There was a lot of controversy about this statement. The scenes and the statement has benefited the film which became a surprise hit even though Neha Dhupia moved on from that image after a few years and made a space in the offbeat films and supporting roles. She also refused to work in Julie 2 which became a massive failure (it earned less than the first past even after releasing more than a decade later).
Neha Dhupia never really apologised or clarified her statement though in 2023 her comment hot headlines again when Pathaan became a monumental success and many people heralded it as return of Bollywood. One man tweeted her quote and Neha Dhupia replied on that tweet saying that her statement holds true even after 20 years.
