Anything is possible in a Bollywood movie and with David Dhawan it was always like, “Movie dekhne aana hai, to dimaag ghar pe rakh ke aa” (leave your brain at home, if you are coming for a David Dhawan movie). After all he was highly inspired by Manmohan Desai.
Govinda pretends to be blind and finds an opportunity to flirt with Karishma.
And we have Karishma, who is playing basketball with a football on a golf course. This is just the beginning. There is no basket. Above that, she is wearing yoga pants while others are wearing tennis dresses. Also, she is dodging the players which means she is alone against the whole team.
There can be a possibility that Karishma’s dress is different so that she could be spotted in the crowd by the audience. The scene had developed the status of a cult meme highlighting its absurdity. Personally, I don't think it was bad research but a deliberate attempt to make it visually humourous.
Arranging a basketball was not a big deal and David must be familiar with it. But what’s the use when there was no basket. It might be like just let it go as it is going. This was noticed by many after almost a decade (thanks to social media). So the point is that David was able to make it digest at that time.
David Dhawan is always known for “stress-buster or brainless” cinema. His audience were like, “watch the movie without using your brains”. Relax and have a good time.
