What did Ajay Devgn reveal why Runway 34's title was changed from May Day?

Runway 34 is a thriller drama in which Captain Vikrant Khanna (Ajay Devgn), a skilled pilot faces a severe mid-air crisis due to bad weather.

He makes a dangerous blind-landing attempt against instructions and saves the passengers.

Further, he has to go through a harsh official enquiry led by Narayan Vedant (Amitabh Bachchan) puting his choices and personal conduct on trial.

The film was initially titled, “MayDay” to signal an emergency as the same is considered as an emergency distress call in the aviation industry. However, many people did not understood the title MayDay and instead confused it with May Day (Labour Day).

The makers then opted for the title Runway 34 which dealt with the central mystery of why the pilot attempted to land on Runway 34 which was a risky choice.

Runway 34 stars Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. The film is loosely inspired by a real-life aviation incident involving a Jet Airways Doha-to-Kochi flight that faced dangerous low visibility weather and nearly resulted in a catastrophe in 2015.
