Besides drawing a salary, air hostesses get to stay at 5-star hotels during their layovers at cities other than their base location. Their stay and food is fully paid for. On top of that, they get an allowance if they fly internationally. That allowance is for personal expenses like local sightseeing and shopping.
Besides these perks, almost all airlines offer complimentary flight tickets or heavily discounted tickets to the crew members. Some airlines extend these tickets to the family members of the crew members, too. A round-trip ticket that costs 1,000 USD may come down to 150–200 USD for the crew members, where they are required to pay just the airport tax.
However, the life of a crew member isn't that rosy. Sure, their salary is quite nice, and they get a lot of monetary and non-monetary benefits on top of it. But imagine flying for hours daily, seeing family members 2–3 times a week at the most, that too just for a few hours at night, and then dealing with arrogant passengers and their unrealistic demands, and the constant harassment they face from a specific category of men.
