López's desire to participate in a triathlon was initially due to her desire to lose weight after having her twins, Max and Emme.
Last month she told ABC's Good Morning America: "I was beached like a whale. I was watching TV, and I saw a triathlon, and I said, 'You know what? I think I could do it, it would be great for me. Maybe I'll do it this year.'"
Apparently, Lopez was heard complaining that Michael Phelps was stealing the spotlight from him.
She had been training for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon six months after giving birth to twins Max and Emme, and she couldn't understand why people were more interested in "that swimmer" than in her story.
