Kaante is set in Los Angeles, where six Indian men are wrongfully detained by the police.
Seeking revenge and money, they team up to execute a major bank heist only to discover there is an undercover cop in their midst.
The undercover cop inside the crew is Maqbool “Mak” Haider played by Lucky Ali.
His identity is revealed at the very end of the movie during the bloody, chaotic climax in their hideout. Actually, while executing the robbery they realise that the police has been tipped off and are waiting for them.
Mak was an undercover cop and was directly asked by his police supervisor to infiltrate the gang, gain their trust, and gather enough evidence against them. He was the one who had triggered the alarm to alert the police. The gang engages in a tense Mexican standoff after suspecting a traitor is among them.
Mak’s identity is revealed to the audience and the gang through flashback. He is mortally wounded lying on the floor and finally shot by Amitabh Bachchan (Major) for his betrayal.
Kaante is an unofficial remake of cult classic heist movie, Reservoir Dogs.
