How did the height of Ritesh Deshmukh reduce in the movie Marjavaan?

Ritesh Deshmukh plays a vertically challenged villian (Vishnu) in Marjaavaan.

A three-foot-tall dwarf gangster who acts as the primary rival to the film’s hero Raghu, played by Sidharth Malhotra.

The Forced Perspective Technique was used in some scenes. Also for many scenes, Ritesh had to walk and act on his knees to reduce his normal height.

To make the proportions look correct, these scenes were shot form five different camera angles (multi-angle filming). Ritesh used to be filmed in five different layers and his shots were stitched together with the shots of the other actors (shot separately) with the same background.

Certain VFX techniques like the “shrinking effect” were used to make him look consistently tiny next to his co-stars.

The visual effects (VFX) for the film were primarily handled by FutureWorks Media Ltd with Shahrukh Khan voluntarily assisting the production team for certain VFX shots (Shahrukh too, played a dwarf in the film, Zero).

This was the second collaboration of Ritesh Deshmukh and Siddharth Malhotra after Ek Villain. The film also stars Tara Saturia and Rakul Preet Singh.
