Tejas Express is a semi high speed Air Conditioned train in Indian Railways. It is introduced to provide a more modern and airline-like travel experience.
It connect major metro cities with less stop, short time, completing the journey before night.
Tejas means Sharpness, or brilliance in Hindi.
India's first Tejas Express was inaugurated on 24th May 2017 between Mumbai CST and Karmali in Goa , then Later extended to Madgaon Junction.
However, Some Tejas Express are operated by IRCTC, which is a government-owned subsidiary of Indian Railways, routes like Mumbai-Ahmedabad and New Delhi-Lucknow
Speciality is Train hostesses also primarly available which is different experience, feels like travelling in flight, they serve food, and ask any queries.
This is available only in IRCTC Tejas train.
Usually in premium train, we see food serving will be mostly Train host or male onboard attendant. but here it's different.

Tejas Express was introduced even though Shatabdi Express already existed because Indian Railways was planned to revolutionize it's premium train with a modern premium features, updated version, different seat material, quality, semi-high-speed branding.
Shatabdi trains were introduced in the 1988s, while Tejas came much later with newer technology and design.
It's more like updated version of Shatabdi Express with some Airline experience, then in 2018, Vande Bharat Express came which is a trainset with modern features.
