What are some of the most unbelievable and amazing cricket facts?

A town in South Africa has one of the most unique cricket stadiums in the world.

Pietermaritzburg, a town in Kwazulu-Natal province has hosted two International matches during the 2003 world cup. One of them was between India and Namibia.

I distinctly remember watching the match, and looking at a tree inside the playing limits.

Now, if you’re wondering what happens when the ball touches the tree, it is clearly mentioned right behind the tree.

Also, any cricketer who scores a century or takes a five-wicket haul gets to plant a tree. Of course, not in the playing limits.

Here’s Joe Root planting a tree after scoring a century. It was a practice match against South Africa A team.

Surprisingly, there are two more stadiums in the world which have trees inside the ground.

St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury, United Kingdom and VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen, Netherlands.

What are some of the most unbelievable yet "true" pictures?

Nazaré in Portugal became head news all over the world when Garret McNamara surfed a confirmed 30 meter - 100ft - wave in 2011. Since then it has become the hotspot for bigwave surfers around the Globe. In 2013 Brazilian Carlos Burle, surfed an even bigger wave, 32–35 meter estimated although according to some observers he didn´t complete it. This unique scenario, with the iconic red lighthouse has been the object of several photos that may look impossible, but I assure you , they´re not:

The height and frequency of the waves has to to with the Nazaré Canyon, an underwater geological formation, a funnel that starts some 200 kms from the coast, 5 kms deep, amassing huge quantities of water and energy, that are slingshot through the Canyon that ends some 500 meters from the beach, producing the highests waves in the World. The red lighthouse is high on a promontory, as you can see in this picture:

Another, less known photo is this one, also in Portugal, Covão dos Conchos, Estrela Mountain:

It looks like the all the water in the lagoon is being swallowed up! In fact, what you see is a 1,5 km tunnel that leads water from the Naves brook to the Lagoa Comprida reservoir.

What fact do you find most unbelievable?

1.Bill Gates Earns 22,000 Dollars per minute.

This is somewhere around 33 million dollars on a daily basis, and a staggering 11 billion dollars per year! Wow, that’s rich! If he dropped a thousand dollars, it literally takes him four seconds to actually earn them back. It would be a waste of time to pick it up in the first place.

2. Russia has a larger surface area than Pluto, however it has the less population than the small country of Bangladesh.

Pluto is 2370 kilometres (1473 miles) across, which can easily fit within Russia’s largest east-to-west radius of 10,000 km and the north-to-south size of 4000 km.

3.Las Vegas casinos have no clocks.

That way, customers tend to spend more time.

4.The Current U.S. Flag Was Designed by a 17-Year-Old for a School Project and he Got a B- grade .

No two tongues are alike, not even the tongues of twins (say that ten times). Your tongue print or “lingual impression” is not only uber unique, it reveals whether you’re biologically male or female.

6.Kumbhamela : Largest religious gathering on the Earth .

Believed to be the largest religious gathering on earth, Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years. It is thought that 30 million Hindu pilgrims gathered to bathe during the festival in 2013.

What are some of the unbelievable facts in science?

 let’s list down some facts:

  1. Earth revolves around Sun.
  2. Moon revolves around Earth.
  3. If all three align in a straight line, then (guess what?) eclipse happens. (If Moon is in the middle, then, Solar eclipse and If Earth is in the middle, then, Lunar eclipse.)

“Oh, Come on Buddy, we all know these, please don’t repeat basics”

Okay, alright but I’m gonna repeat them again but with extra details.

  • Earth is tilted 23.5 degrees around its rotation axis, and it revolves around Sun; That is why, we have seasons.
  • So, as an observer on Earth, we see Sun does not rise in the exact East ALWAYS.
  • Moon revolves around Earth.
  • Based on the above observations, imagine a trajectory of Sun and Moon around Earth. Both the trajectories are not Co-planar.

Now, observe closely, there are two points (nodes) of intersection of the trajectories in the Earth’s sky map. Eclipses happen only when both Sun and Moon enter those two particular nodes at the same time.

If both Sun and Moon are in same node, then Solar eclipse and if Sun in one node and Moon in other node then Lunar Eclipse. Since, Sun’s and Moon’s trajectories around Earth are not co-planar and have an angle of 5 degrees (as can see in the above picture), Eclipses don’t happen on every full moon day and new moon day.

Now, do you know what those 2 particular nodes are called generally (In India)?

HINT:

Did the picture ring the bell?

Okay, let me tell you. That is the picture of Rahu and Ketu. They both swallow Sun and Moon occasionally causing Eclipses.

Rahu being North Lunar Node and Ketu being South Lunar Node.

Before we getting the knowledge of Earth’s 23.5-degree tilt on its rotation axis, our ancestors knew it all and gave them fancy names as well.

Bonus: Have you observed that Sun rises in the exact east in the month of March and according to Hindu calendar, new year is celebrated in the same month known as Ugadi (in Karnataka). In other states, this festival may be known with other names. Uga + Adi which means start of the year.
