So, there are lot more things that were used earlier and not now. I can remember some utensils and kitchen gadgets ….manual ones that we hardly see today in kitchens.
Like this Sil Batta made of stone. I don’t know what it is called in English, perhaps a ,kind of Mortar Pestle…right?
It was used to make Chutneys (Indian sauces) and grind spices, pulses etc.
Then there was also this huge Sil Batta like this one which was used to coarsely grind spices and cereals.
Now all this has been completely substituted with Mixer Grinders, Choppers, Food Processors which hardly take any time to crush, pulse or grind anything. Though I would agree 100% that the taste that you get in those traditional mortar pestles is unbeatable.
Then there were also these Copper Buckets used in Kitchens and bathrooms for water storage-
Of course, these were quite heavy. Now they are replaced by these plastic ones that are light weight and easily affordable -
What about these Clay Pots and Chakki ?
Now we get why there were no Gyms that time…!!! :P
Look at this beautiful Brass Tea Strainer that was a regular member in good old kitchen ….
These Brass Tiffin Carriers…
