The question seems specifically for films directed by Feroz Khan as Lata had rendered songs in Feroz Khan starrers like Raat Aur Din, Geeta Mera Naam, Teesra Kaun, Unche Log, Upasna etc.
Feroz Khan directed two films in the 70s decade, Apradh and Dharmatma. Lata rendered one song each in both the films. In the 80s decade Feroz Khan directed Qurbani, Jaanbaaz and Dayavan. Lata was not the primary choice for Qurbani & Jaanbaaz, as Feroz wanted a more western disco-pop and contemporary sound that broke away from traditional Bollywood melodies.
That’s the reason he used Nazia Hasan for “Aap Jaisa Koi” in Qurbani and Kanchan for “Laila Main Laila”. A young breathy non-classical western timbre to match the modern aesthetics.
Even Asha Bhosle just had one number in Qurbani (Kya Dekhte Ho), though she was known for her seductive voice and her vocal delivery was synonymous with the glamourous “modern woman” in Indian cinema.
Till the time Dayavan was released, the industry was actively exploring new younger vocal textures for its on-screen actresses. This was the time from when Kalyanji-Anandji was replaced with other music directors in all Feroz Khan films thereafter.
The result, Dayavan, Yalgaar and Prem Aggan had a mixture of Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sapna Mukherjee, Saadhna Sargam, Alka Yagnik and Anuradha Paudwal while Sunidhi Chauhan and Jaspinder Narula were the new voices used for Janasheen.
