Goddess Mahalakshmi is often depicted seated on a lotus, symbolizing moksha, or spiritual liberation. As the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, she is not only the bestower of material abundance but also the guide to spiritual awakening, inner peace, and ultimate fulfillment. Goddess Lakshmi leads you to the highest state of satisfaction in life—whether you possess material wealth or not. It reflects the ideal state of being that we, as humans, strive for: a state of contentment, where you are fulfilled, regardless of external circumstances. It is the attainment of everything and, at the same time, the detachment from the need for anything more. This represents the ultimate peace, where you are in harmony with what you have, be it everything or nothing, and are fully at ease with it all.
She also has the power behind the 8 siddhis and 9 nidhis. The 8 siddhis are Godly level or some of which a person achieves through spiritual practice. These include abilities such as becoming as small as an atom (Anima), becoming infinitely large (Mahima), and having the power to control others (Vashitva). The 9 nidhis represent different forms of wealth or treasures, both material and spiritual. Together, the siddhis and nidhis symbolize a complete, balanced life that blends spiritual power and material abundance, as well as inner and outer fulfillment. These 8 Siddhi’s and 9 niddhi’s are granted by Goddess Siddhi Lakshmi to the Deva’s.
