How do people get rich from stocks?

Story of $100 to $2 Billion.

The guy sitting on this chair is “Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.”

As a child, he was so much interested in stock markets, because of his passion for the stock market he started trading very early in his life.

Jhunjhunwala bought six crore shares of Titan in 2002-03 at an average price of around Rs 3. The stocks were priced(in 2014) trading at 390 Rs level, and his investment increased from 18 crores to 2100 crores.

He made many more so-called “ high valued” investments.

“No doubt, he is smart in his ways. But there is always a bit of luck and loads of hard work and research involved.”

  • He believes in making mistakes.
  • If you don’t admit that it is your mistake, you will never learn, so make hell lot of mistakes and get over it asap.
  • Getting up early in the morning gives you a “head start.”

What do we know about gravitational waves?

Gravitational waves travel at the speed of light and pass through everything like they don’t exist and are basically nothing but a type of radiation that’s capable of changing space and time, but not mass. When I’ve had my interferometer out in the good ole days, along with a computer, cameras and other equipment I made many great scientific discoveries concerning gravitational waves.

There are at least two different types of gravitational wave sources. There are sources that send out a single gravitational wave, and there are sources that send out multiple gravitational waves. For a single gravitational wave, you don’t have to do much with the equipment, but with a multiple gravitational wave source you have to move all of it from place to place in order to get maximum data… and there’s tremendous amounts of data that can be gathered from a source that’s sending out multiple gravitational waves.

Gravitational Waves can be some of the most interesting things that you’ll ever get to observe with an interferometer, computer, cameras and other equipment. Gravitational Waves aren’t those boring things that LIGO and VIRGO show us; gravitational waves are extremely interesting when you use all of that equipment properly. Especially when you find spacetime first, in order to set everything to ZERO.

The cool thing is that you and I can track down where gravitational waves are coming from here on Earth by moving all of this equipment from one location to another. If you want to track down closer gravitational waves that are throwing out gravitational waves only minutes apart… all day and all night long… and they usually exist within 100 miles or so from your location… you shouldn’t be sloppy in doing so, you should keep your tracking equipment sealed up at all times.

Being sloppy can endanger your life in more than one way when tracking down gravitational waves. When I was much younger and had discovered how to track down gravitational waves in 1995 to their sources here on Earth, I was very sloppy. Back then I had no idea that others could become dangerous out in the field towards me. If you ever decide to track down gravitational waves in the future, don’t tell anyone, or your life will be in danger; great danger if you succeed in tracking down gravitational waves to their source, especially if the sources are future earthquakes and or “slow earthquakes”. So, you have the human factor to watch out for, don’t trust them when out tracking down earthquakes before they strike, if the earthquakes are sending out multiple gravitational waves.

Then there is the fact that you are a beginner, and don’t know better, just as I was decades ago. Keep all of your equipment sealed up and keep a list so that you don’t leave any of it behind when out tracking down where gravitational waves are coming from. Check your list when you get ready to leave an area that you just checked for gravitational waves. Tracking gravitational waves to their source when earthquake activity is the source means that you should start out with plenty of gas in the tank of your vehicle and that you should pack food and drinks to eat and drink along the way. Make sure you carry an ATLAS of the state you are in, and plenty of paper for hard copy, something could happen to your laptop, and you can lose your data.

Don’t be sloppy out in the field, keep everything sealed up tight. You are messing with gravitational waves, even though they don’t move matter when passing through, they move “spacetime”, spacetime distortions detected by the interferometer are what alerts your computer that something is occurring and how much it’s occurring over space and time.

Now that you know how to detect distortions in spacetime, if you are sloppy you are going to have to watch what you do in the future at or near this location. If you weren’t sloppy, you have nothing to worry about at or near this location in the future. Think about it, with that equipment “distortions in spacetime are located and taking place”. It’s not the distortion of “space” that you have to be worried about, it's the “distortion of time” that you should be worried about.

What do you think can’t possibly happen when a distortion in time is discovered? That’s right, “time” is displaced either into the future or into the past. You need to discover the past and the future with that same equipment, because both exist along with the present, and if you are there detecting distortions in spacetime, well then, the distortion was either of the past, or of the future. Even though you didn’t see anything, or hear anything at the time, it's when you come back at a later date, that something else can be waiting there for you, and it’s not your friend. Tracking down a multiple gravitational wave source can end your life if you seriously aren’t watching what’s going on around that location when you come back in the future. At one point in time or another, something is going to be waiting there for you, because you split the spacetime continuum or at least opened a doorway.

So… what I know about gravitational waves, is that they are easy to detect with an interferometer, computer, cameras and other equipment… and that your life will definitely be in danger out in the field if you are tracking down a gravitational wave source that’s sending out “multiple gravitational waves” that’s possibly up to around 130 miles away or less on average. Yes… it's very fun to track down gravitational waves that are coming from a source that’s emitting multiple gravitational waves here on Earth, but once people see all of that equipment, they sometimes become dangerous; stay away from people when traveling with all of that equipment. Be on the lookout for critters at all times.

What are the biggest mistakes in IPL cricket history?

 Financial and franchise mistakes:

  • Releasing Chris Gayle - I don’t need to explain this. Why KKR released Gayle is still beyond me. A lot of reports said it was because he left halfway through season 1. Whatever bro! RCB got their penny’s worth and then some.
  • Buying an out-of-form Yuvi - Yuvi is no doubt a legend of the game, but IPL is a place where all that doesn’t really count. Loads of superstars have been humbled by the format. RCB and DD both bought Yuvi for super-high prices and he did not do much to justify the buys.
  • Buying and Releasing Shane Watson - Weird, I know. It is true that Shane Watson was in the twilight of his career and that he had a lacklustre season with RCB, but he was still a catch. But even then , 9 crores rupees was still high. CSK lapped him up the moment they saw him on sale and he had a pretty good season with CSK under Dhoni’s razor-sharp leadership.
  • Benching Glenn Maxwell - MI bought him for $1 M and benched him. Enough said.
  • Releasing Gautam Gambhir - Arguably the second best captain in the 2011 and 2012 IPL seasons, releasing Gambhir was one of DD’s worst decisions and that is saying a lot. KKR lapped him up and he single-handedly made them a group of world-beaters. The worst part is, he did not even under perform with DD. Edit - Comments have pointed out that it was Gambhir’s decision. I stand corrected.
  • Buying Kevin Pietersen in 2009 - Despite the big bucks and a decent form, KP was the biggest disaster in 2009 season. He had a forgettable outing with just 93 runs. His price tag was $1.55M. Damn!
  • Buying Ben Stokes for 12.5 Cr -A rare mistake from RR, who are usually quite shrewd in bids. But understandable. Ben was highest paid even previous season with Pune and sure enogh, he was also the MVP. But he failed in 2018. Expensive mistake.
  • Jaydev Undakat for RR - In a season where all teams scrambled for local boys, Unadkat hit the jackpot with the highest bid of the year. A shame he couldn’t justify it. Another huge mis-step by RR.
  • Releasing AB Devilliers - Another Jaffa by Delhi. ABD was the swashbuckling South African who was making news for his unique batting style. He was an ace fielder and a superb team man. God knows why DD chose to release him. RCB were like ‘Shut up and take my money’ buying him with $1.5 M.

Who is more powerful between Suryadeva and Indradeva in Hinduism?

I think it would be Devraj Lord Indra based on pure descriptions from the texts. He is the king of all Devas so technically Surya also comes within his domain.

To Start with, Indra can take on the role of both Surya and Chandra. Such is his magnificence.

Mahabharat 515(218)

Indra grants beings strength, energy, offspring and happiness. When he is satisfied, the lord of the gods grants everyone their shares. He withdraws it from those who perform evil deeds and grants it to those who perform good ones. The destroyer of Bala assigns beings to their tasks. He acts as the sun when there is no sun, and as the moon when there is no moon. He becomes the fire, the wind, the earth and the water and their origins. These are Indra’s tasks and Indra

Rig Veda 1.32.4 - According to the Rig Ved, the sun, dawn and skies had fallen in the battle with Vritra. Indra gave them life.

yad indrāhan prathamajām ahīnām ān māyinām amināḥ prota māyāḥ | āt sūryaṃ janayan dyām uṣāsaṃ tādītnā śatruṃ na kilā vivitse ||

4 When, Indra, thou hadst slain the dragon's firstborn, and overcome the charms of the enchanters,
Then, giving life to Sun and Dawn and Heaven, thou foundest not one foe to stand against thee.

Rig Veda 1.51.4 - Indra made the sun visible after destroying Vritra.

tvam apām apidhānāvṛṇor apādhārayaḥ parvate dānumad vasu | vṛtraṃ yad indra śavasāvadhīr ahim ād it sūryaṃ divy ārohayo dṛśe ||

You have opened the receptacle of the waters; you have detained in the mountain the treasure of the malignant; when you had slain Vṛtra, the destryer, you made the sun visible in the sky.

What were some famous flaws of CEOs and leaders?

Henry Ford is the most famous auto executive in history. He was very good at what he did and innovated in car design and manufacturing. He didn’t invent the car, but he is the originator of the modern assembly line style of mass production (which is no small feat).

He is easily one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.

But where he was great in many operational efficiencies, he was terrible at accounting. Part of this was because he wasn’t a big believer in accounting. He never even audited his company while he was in the prime of his career.

He frequently stacked up money and invoices and weighed them to determine how much money was coming and going. But it was a very inexact science.

Eventually, by the time the company went public in 1956, that had changed. They likely know, down to the penny, how much money is coming and going from that building these days.

He wasn’t a perfect man and had some murky opinions on Judaism and other matters. But he did succeed greatly as an industrialist.

Which scene of actress Mandakini's film created a big controversy in India at that time?

Mandakini, the heroine of the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili, in order to pacify her newborn child who is crying out of hunger in the train, while performing the duty of a mother, hugs the child to her chest and calms his hunger or appetite. Yes, that scene was embroiled in controversies at the time.

What surprised you the most about Monaco?

The incredible number of CARS parked on the very small number of streets of the principality. All displaying MONACO LICENCE PLATES !

Monaco is a tiny valley surrounded by France and the Mediterranean. One can walk from one end to the other in just a few minutes !

All those ships in the harbour did not surprise me. The largest ones were not even inside the harbour but anchored in front of it.

But why were there so many parked cars ? Of course every apartment was built with an underground parking lot, and most cars on the streets had on their windshield a ticket for faulty parking !

At the occasion of a meal in an (overpriced) restaurant I was given the answer.

Monaco is one of the rare countries that collects no income tax at all. The authorities consider that if a lot of wealthy people choose to live there, their spending should be sufficient to fill the the countries coffers. People who choose to live there and to benefit from the tax advantage should buy their homes and spend at least half of the year in the Principality.

Most tennis players, as well as other sport stars, entertainers, a large number of European industry owners…much of Europe’s wealth is concentrated in that small area. (Except for French citizens, who do not escape the tax office by having a Monaco domicile).

However all those wealthy people love to move around, have multiple domiciles… and they find burdensome the Monaco regulation requiring local presence for over half of the year.

So they want to APPEAR living there…whilst being absent most of the time. They get a Monaco licence plate on their car, and have a driver park it around town, often collecting parking tickets. The man also tends to be in charge of lighting the appartment in the evening, letting some water run…and even eating in a restaurant while keeping the tab for their boss.

There are in Monaco a lot more cars than actually present inhabitants !

What were the various curses given to Ravana in the Ramayana?

Throughout his life, Ravana went on collecting curses in his kitty. But he was still not ready to improvise, considering the vanity he carried because of the boon he received from Brahma.

So here is the list of curses he received in Ramayana

Ravana is cursed by Nandi –

After defeating Kubera, Ravana proceeds towards the Kailash. He meet Nandishwar, who asks him to take his vehicle back as Lord Shiva was sporting on the hill. He tells Ravana that the mountain is inaccessible even to Suparnas, serpents, Yakshasa, gods, Gandharvas, and Rakshasas.

At this point, Ravana begins to mock Nandi for his appearance, whose head resembled a monkey and started to laugh loudly. This is when he got a curse:

“O Dashanana, since deriding me in my monkey form, you burst into a loud laughter resembling a stroke of lightning. Therefore, monkeys will be born to destroy your race. They will have claws and teeth for their weapons; they will have the speed of the mind; they will be frantic in the fight; they will be proud of their might; they will look like moving mountains, O cruel one! Gathering together, they will take away your excessive arrogance and pride of physical superiority along with that of your ministers and sons. O Rakshasas, I can kill you even now; but you shall not be killed inasmuch as you are already killed by your misdeeds.”

Canto 16, Uttara Kanda, Valmiki Ramayana

Ravana cursed by Vedavati

After passing through the Kailash mountain, Ravana, during his journey, sees Vedavati and instantly has his lust sparked for her. He asks her who she is and Vedavati responds, stating she is the daughter of Kushadhwaj and she is performing tapas to get Lord Vishnu as her husband.

Herein, Ravana tries to persuade her to choose him instead of Lord Vishnu. When Vedavati declines, he catches her by her hair. Humiliated, Vedavati transforms her hand into a sword and cuts off her hair touched by Ravana. She self-immolates herself and promises to be reborn to bring his downfall.

Insulted by you, O ignoble man, I no longer desire to live. I will, therefore, enter the fire before your very eyes, O ogre! As I have been insulted in this forest by you, O sinner, therefore, I will be born again for your destruction. It is not possible for a woman to kill a man of sinful resolve. And if I have pronounced a curse on you, my Tapas will be lost. If I have done anything meritorious or have given gifts or tended the sacred fire, I will surely appear as Ayonija, the pious daughter of a virtuous man.

She was reborn as Sita to Janaka for the destruction of Ravana.

Canto 17, Uttara Kanda, Valmiki Ramayana

Ravana receives a curse from Anaranya

Anaranya was the monarch of Ayodhya who was considered equal to Indra. Ravana reaches the place and asks the monarch to either give a fight or be defeated. Hereby, Anaranya agrees to fight with the ogre. He comes out of his kingdom gathering a battalion of ten thousand elephants, many foot soldiers and lakhs of horses. Ravana goes on to defeat the entire army.

Then Anaranya faces Ravana and defeats his ministers, namely – Maricha, Sarana, Shuka and Prahasta who runs off from the battlefield. The ogre’s arrow hit the king and he falls from his chariot.

The king curses Ravana during his death that since he insulted the Ikshwaku race, Shri Ram will be born into the race of Ikshwakus, who will take his life.

Since you have insulted the race of Ikshwaku, I shall pronounce a curse, O ogre! If a gift has ever been bestowed, an oblation has ever been poured into the sacred fire, and austerities have been practised well and if the people have been well protected by me, let my words prove to be true. Indeed in the race of high-souled Ikshwakus will be born a son of Dasharatha, Shri Ram by name; He will take your life.

Canto 19, Uttara Kanda, Valmiki Ramayana

Ravana gets cursed by the celestial nymph Rambha

Ravana sees Rambha and is instantly taken over by lust. He approaches Rambha and asks her to accept him. She declines, stating that she is his daughter-in-law as she is the lawful wife of Ravana’s half-brother - Kuber’s son Nalakuber. However, Ravana forces himself upon Rambha and violates her modesty.

When Nalakubera learns about this violation, he curses Ravana that if he ever touches any woman without her permission, his head will split into seven pieces.

Holding the water in his hand and sprinkling all his sense-organs with due ceremony, he pronounced on that occasion the following terrible curse on Ravana – “Since, O blessed lady, you stand violated by him perforce, unwilling as you were he shall no longer be able to approach any other young woman who is unwilling to accept him. When stricken with love, he will violate a woman who is unwilling to approach him; his head will actually be split into seven pieces at that very moment.

Canto 26, Uttara Kanda, Valmiki Ramayan

Ravana even confirmed this in Yuddha Kanda, where Mahaparshwa asks Ravana to force himself on Sita; he states that having violated celestial nymphs like Punjakasthala, Vedavati and Rambha, he was cursed by Brahma that his head will split into pieces if he touches any woman against her will.

Who are the most famous people to never have a father?

Da Vinci is not his real name.

Yes, I’m still talking about the guy who painted the original Mona Lisa, good ol’Leo.

Leonardo was an illegitimate child. His father left after impregnating his mother, hence is true birth name was a singular Leonardo. (Source: What Was Leonardo's Name? Isaak, Shelly)

Leonardo did have a father but not a man he could lay claim to as his legal father due to his illegitimacy. His father ended up marrying 4 different times and had 7 children along the way, who of course, later fought over his estate.

Leonardo was able to at least claim ties to his biological father and avoid being branded a bastard child.

But his last name Da Vinci simply originates from his having been born near a town named Vinci. (Da Vinci = from Vinci)

What makes Garib Rath Express the most unique train of Indian Railways?

Garib rath literally “Poor people’s Chariot” are a series of super fast trains operating since 2006 that were meant to provide cheap “air conditioned” travel for the Travelers who could not afford standard Air conditioned Trains.

I have traveled On the Garib rath Once, And it was because we were break journeying from Sealdah to New Delhi. Needless to say a very good train, but not suitable for me (or my family)

The garib rath being very economical, had to do some changes to make it profitable and that includes some ridiculous engineering.

Enter The Side “Middle” Birth: This train has a side middle birth in AC 3 Tier coaches!!

Above: You”re got to be kidding me!! Am i supposed to sleep in the middle??!!

now, another engineering marvel. The Garib Rath is Fully Air Conditioned, and i can testify that it actually is but the AC is so underpowered, they have something else to cool you

Enter Fan in Fully Air Conditioned Coach!!: This Train uses fans as well as AC to cool the coach since the AC is so bad!!

Notice the Fans?? they work together with the AC!!

Enter the 130 KM/H Speed Limit: The coaches have a Maximum permissible Speed of a whopping 130 KM/H, same as ICF Rajdhani and Shatabdi but it seldom uses it. The fastest Garib rath, The Hazrat Nizamuddin Bandra Terminus Garib rath has a mythical average speed of 81 KM/H and i doubt it as much as my age.

What are some mind-blowing amazing facts about the human body?

Sometimes there are Things we can’t see but is visible to people with extraordinary pair of eyes. There is a girl “Concetta Antico” who can see 100 times more Colors than normal human being.

Antico is a Tetrachromat, giving her eyes the ability to see up to one hundred times more colors than a normal human being.

In 2012 it was found that Antico had a genotype for potential Tetrachromacy a genetic condition that gives her four types of cone cell classes in her eyes (normal color vision humans only have three cone cell classes). Her extra cone class provides additional sensitivity in the region between the normal middle- and long-wavelength sensitive cones. One advantage provided by this extra cone class appears to be an enhancement of color in shadow and in dim lighting. Antico discovered her condition after collectors and students had begun sending her articles about the condition, after viewing her work.

Here is her few paintings which she has drawn.
