Srirangam : While returning to Swarna Lanka ; Vibhishan stopped near the Kaveri river to perform his daily prayers.
Safeguarding : But, as the idol became static here; Vibhishan gave it to a local ruler for safe guarding.
Ever since, this sacred place is known as Sri Rangam.
Rare : The main idol of Lord Srirangnath ji is made up of medicinal herbs known as Thailam.
Facts : It is a rare shrine that has embalmed body of Sri Ramanujacharya , a great mystic.
