Devasena is, no doubt, an amazing character in the Bahubali franchise! She is a warrior princess. She is brave, strong, intelligent, powerful, kind, independent and generous.
She was just and powerful.
She never kept quiet when she knew something wrong was happening. She has lots of will power and patience!
However, Devasena too commits mistakes which lead to severe consequences. First of all, she was very rude to Shivagami.
She openly insulted Shivagami and Bhallaldeva in court. As a result, Bhallaldeva killed Amarendra Bahubali but didn't kill Devasena. Instead, he tortured Devasena for the next 25 years till Mahendra Bahubali rescued her. She didn't know what Shivagami had gone through in her life hence she challenged Shivagamis authority. This made Shivagami angry, and created friction between Shivagami and Devasena. This led to the death of Amarendra Bahubali and the sufferings of Devasena by Bhalla.
She challenged authority. She always called Mahishmati as an empire without hearts (because she didn't like the way she was treated). I'm not saying Devasena was wrong; I'm saying that she could've expressed her feelings without being so rude and without humiliating Shivagami. She could've soflty told Shivagami that she was wrong in deciding that Devasena should marry Bhalla without even considering whether Devasena was interested in marrying Bhalla. She could've soflty told Shivagami that Amarendra Bahubali and herself are in love and she doesnt want to marry anybody else other than Amarendra Bahubali. She could've soflty told Shivagami that Amarendra Bahubali was decided King of Mahishmati and he must be the King of Mahishmati. Instead, she chose to challenge Shivagami.
This lead to this....
But Devasena patiently waited for her son to rescue her.
Her patience, gave good results in the end.
