Should you avoid eating non-vegetarian food during Pitru Paksha?

Pitru Paksh is the best period to remember one’s ancestors.

Shradh Paksh : Every year, many Hindus observe Shradh Paksh.

It comprises of 15 days ,when one offers Tarpan (sacred rituals) to ancestors.

It appease the Pitru devta, who proverbially bless their successors.

Rituals : Hindus offers Pind daan (rice balls) to ancestors.

They ritually feed cows , brahmins, crows, dogs and ants.

They also offer prayers to Surya , Ganga ji and Peepal tree as they are the living deities.

They also feed the poor and hungry souls.

Hindus strictly avoid non vegetarian food , intoxicants and immoral behavior during Shradh Paksh.

Remembrance : It is a sacred occasion, when one offers prayers to departed kith and kin.

Devotees seek forgiveness from all departed kin and thank them for being part of the human journey.

Journey : Hindus treat life as a karmic journey to experience happiness and sadness alike.

Hinduism treats every living being as a sacred part of Paramatma (divine conscious.)

Without wondering about anyone, they keep on thanking everyone for being part of life.

Fact : One can also feed a cow or the poor to show gratitude to one’s departed kin.
