Why is eating curd at night bad for your health?

Not just curd, the Hindu Dharma shastras and Ayurvedic Shastras prohibit to eat 5 kinds of foods during night time .

In my home we observe this rule very strictly.

The five kind of food items that are prohibited to eat during night times are

Nellikai or Amla

Oorukai or Pickle

Inji or Ginger

Keerai or leafy vegetables

Thayir or Curd

There may be a reason why these foods are prohibited but these restrictions also depends on the climatic conditions we live.

Curd gives heat to our body and thus before sleeping during night times ,curd is prohibited.

I have heard many people who have told they have sinus problems take curd during night time and doctors also tell people not to eat curd during night.

During night times, our body produces more heat and after we wake up, when we take bath ,this heat is released and if we take curd during night times, our body produces more heat.

In north India, consuming curd is common during night times as winters are long in north but in South ,curd is taken only during morning and especially during afternoons of winters and if its summer we go with butter milk.

Moreover, even while serving Ilai sappadu( plaintain leaf meal), curd is served last during winters while Mor( butter milk) is replaced instead of curd during summers.

In winter, our body needs heat whole during summer, we need to cool our body.

Thus curd is bad during summers and during night times instead you can go with butter milk during summers.

Similarly the other 4 mentioned foods will be having a reason they we should find.

Whatever our ancestors have told, its for a reason!

How long can a human being go without eating?

In 1965, a 27-year-old Irishman named Angus Barbieri, who suffered from severe obesity, did it for 382 days.

He survived for over a year on just his body fat, plus water, other fluids, and supplements, going to the bathroom approximately once every 40-50 days.

The sensational fast was prescribed by Dr. William Kinnear Stewart and took place under controlled conditions, with frequent blood tests and hospital monitoring.

Initially, the treatment was supposed to last only 40 days, but Angus unexpectedly found himself calm, stating that his body was getting used to the absence of food and, thanks to his great desire to achieve the goal, he decided to continue with the treatment. (bitter end.)

In the end, starting from an initial weight of 207 kg, he managed to lose 125 kg, thus reaching his ideal weight of 82 kg.

He broke his fast on the morning of July 11, 1966, by eating a boiled egg, a slice of bread with butter, and a cup of coffee, stating in a later interview that he enjoyed the meal very much, but that it immediately made him feel full.

In the following months and years, he continued to be monitored by doctors, and the last check-up, five years later, showed that his weight remained below 90 kg, a value he maintained for the rest of his life.

Is eating dry fruits at night, good or bad?

Additionally, eating a handful of dried fruit before bedtime may help promote good sleep, as some studies suggest that certain types of dried fruit have natural sleep-inducing properties. Therefore, whether it's in the morning or at night, eating a handful of dried fruit can benefit overall health and well-being.

Almonds. Just a handful of these and you'll be dozing off in no time. Pasquella says almonds contain tryptophan and magnesium, which both help to naturally reduce muscle and nerve function while also steadying your heart rhythm. Almond butter or peanut butter will also work.

Eating Dry Fruits don't really have either good or bad time. But to achieve maximum health benefits of dry fruits it is advised to eat it early in the morning. The best time to eat dry fruits and nuts are mainly morning. Though it is a very good for our health, it should be consumed in limited quantity every day.

These nuts are sweet in flavour and are consumed raw & roasted, and people also use them in making chocolate products like chocolate spreads. Since these nuts are rich in tryptophan, the amino acid that promotes sleepiness, the best time to eat them is at night.

Dried fruit can boost your fiber and nutrient intake and supply your body with large amounts of antioxidants. However, they are also high in sugar and calories, and can cause problems when eaten in excess. For this reason, dried fruit should only be eaten in small amounts, preferably along with other nutritious foods.

Is eating rice good or bad for health?

Rice is predominantly a staple food for most Asian countries, and it happens to be one of the most consumed cereal grains across the world. Right from white rice to brown rice to the nutrient-dense black rice and red rice, there are several variants of rice, and each one has something good or bad about it. However, there are several myths floating all around social media that eating rice is not good for health, whereas, according to some studies, rice is a rich source of nutrients. Thus, we thought of sharing more insight into the matter and whether eating rice is good or bad. Read on!

Here’s why eating rice daily is good or bad for health:

Natural dose of energy

Yes! You read it right; we often blame rice for being the sole reason for our after-meal dizziness. Well, you will be amazed to know that rice is naturally loaded with carbohydrates, which help in boosting the energy levels. Rice has a long chain of complex carbohydrates that take quite some time to break down. Thus, it keeps you satiated for a longer duration of time. However, too much starchy food can be harmful for people suffering from diabetes. Hence, keeping in check the quantity becomes important to derive the benefits of this nutrient-dense cereal.

Nutrient-rich

Rice is a powerhouse of various nutrients. In fact, all varieties of rice are a great source of minerals such as calcium and iron; they are also rich in vitamins, such as niacin, vitamin D, thiamine, fiber and riboflavin. Rice is easy to digest, has less saturated fat, and has good cholesterol as compared to other foods. Hence, it is good for heart health.

Good for digestion

Suffering from stomach ailments? Then rice can be the best healthy alternative to go for. It is light and easy to digest, and the presence of fibers makes it a great thing to go for. In fact, the fiber content in rice helps in reducing constipation and other stomach-related ailments.

Glycemic index

Rice has several nutrients and minerals, but despite all the good things it has, it has a high glycemic index, which can actually lead to diabetes. The presence of starch takes too much time to break down the carbs. Hence, too much rice, especially white rice, must be avoided to stay away from various lifestyle diseases.

Weight loss or weight gain

There are various studies that suggest that going for a rice-based diet can actually help in losing weight, as it has more fiber and less saturated fat.
