What are some good Indian movies that have a runtime of less than two hours?

I have rarely seen “A Death in the Gunj” mentioned in the list of all the best emotional, poignant and original Indian movies ever made. The ending never fails to make me cry :”)

The story set in Anglo-Indian era tells about Shutu, our bengali protoganist who suffers from depression and is regularly bullied and used by his family members, friends and crush- with absolutely no one to care about him. After failing his exams, losing his father- he decides to visit his maasi’s (aunt’s) hometown.

It’s definitely a must-watch especially if you are a fan of tear-jerker movies. Sends out an important message at the end too which is something half of the world refuses to care about and that’s- The importance of mental health and how depression actually looks in daily life. How Loneliness is one of the biggest perpetrators of it 💔

I loved the movie for 2 reasons-

  • The ending.
  • Shutu. Played by a brilliant actor, he is someone most people can silently relate to. He is one of the most accurate portrayals of what people suffering with depression actually look and act like. Most of them are all smiley and cheery from outside and yet, could be contemplating to commit suicide the next day. Having 0 social support worsens matters because..well, we start believing ki jab koi khayal rakhne vala nahi hai to what’s the use of living? Kya hi farak padega kisiko? :”)

Which is an absolute depressing lie to believe in. When you go out, do you ever find yourself complimenting someone in mind?

“Wow her smile is sooooo pretty”

“Yk what the way she is holding that cup is kinda elegant”

“Damnnn that was a badass walk :0”

It doesn’t even have to be about appearance. And do you know..how many secret admirers you have on this planet? :) More than you think 💓 And even if you have no one to support you then c’mon you have YOURSELF. You have your childhood version of youself looking up in hope of an amazing future. Would you want your future self looking back in regret and recollecting all those moments you are missing in life rn, because you have no one? Because YOU think you have no one?

This time will def pass and new people will love you. Just hang on there, alright? :D

Anyways, Shutu is the best and the most realistic main character l have seen in Bollywood and this isn’t even an exaggeration. Thank you for coming to my ted talk 🛐

Is eating rice good or bad for health?

Rice is predominantly a staple food for most Asian countries, and it happens to be one of the most consumed cereal grains across the world. Right from white rice to brown rice to the nutrient-dense black rice and red rice, there are several variants of rice, and each one has something good or bad about it. However, there are several myths floating all around social media that eating rice is not good for health, whereas, according to some studies, rice is a rich source of nutrients. Thus, we thought of sharing more insight into the matter and whether eating rice is good or bad. Read on!

Here’s why eating rice daily is good or bad for health:

Natural dose of energy

Yes! You read it right; we often blame rice for being the sole reason for our after-meal dizziness. Well, you will be amazed to know that rice is naturally loaded with carbohydrates, which help in boosting the energy levels. Rice has a long chain of complex carbohydrates that take quite some time to break down. Thus, it keeps you satiated for a longer duration of time. However, too much starchy food can be harmful for people suffering from diabetes. Hence, keeping in check the quantity becomes important to derive the benefits of this nutrient-dense cereal.

Nutrient-rich

Rice is a powerhouse of various nutrients. In fact, all varieties of rice are a great source of minerals such as calcium and iron; they are also rich in vitamins, such as niacin, vitamin D, thiamine, fiber and riboflavin. Rice is easy to digest, has less saturated fat, and has good cholesterol as compared to other foods. Hence, it is good for heart health.

Good for digestion

Suffering from stomach ailments? Then rice can be the best healthy alternative to go for. It is light and easy to digest, and the presence of fibers makes it a great thing to go for. In fact, the fiber content in rice helps in reducing constipation and other stomach-related ailments.

Glycemic index

Rice has several nutrients and minerals, but despite all the good things it has, it has a high glycemic index, which can actually lead to diabetes. The presence of starch takes too much time to break down the carbs. Hence, too much rice, especially white rice, must be avoided to stay away from various lifestyle diseases.

Weight loss or weight gain

There are various studies that suggest that going for a rice-based diet can actually help in losing weight, as it has more fiber and less saturated fat.

What is a good PE ratio for a stock?

Many times, we hear the term PE ratio when discussing stock analysis. It is one of the most widely used financial metrics that investors rely on to evaluate whether a stock is overvalued, undervalued, or fairly priced.

Understanding the PE ratio can help investors make better decisions when selecting stocks, as it allows them to compare companies within the same sector and determine whether they are paying a reasonable price for potential earnings. However, relying solely on the PE ratio without considering other factors can lead to misleading conclusions.

The PE ratio provides a snapshot of how much investors are willing to pay for each rupee of a company's earnings. A high PE ratio may indicate that investors expect strong future growth, while a low PE ratio might suggest the stock is undervalued or that the company is facing challenges.

(Google image)

What is PE ratio?

PE ratio is one of the most widely used tools for stock selection. It is calculated by dividing the current market price of the stock by its earning per share (EPS). It shows the sum of money you are ready to pay for each rupee worth of the earnings of the company. The Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio is calculated as:

PE = Current Market price / EPS

It tells us how much investors are willing to pay for every ₹1 of a company's earnings. A high PE suggests that the stock is expensive relative to its earnings, while a low PE may indicate that the stock is undervalued.

Now, let’s explore what makes a PE ratio good or bad and how to use it effectively for stock selection.

  • No fixed PE ratio for a stock

There is no specific PE ratio for particular stock. Different companies have different PE ratio as per company sector or peer group.

  • Sector-wise PE comparison is important

PE depends upon company earning so every company have different earning capacity according to company product or production and market share. But for overall sector have some specific PE that you can evaluate and compare with to your stock which related to that sector. Like If the NIFTY IT index PE is around 18-20, and an IT stock like Infosys or TCS has a PE of 25, it means the stock is trading at a premium compared to the sector. Conversely, if another IT stock has a PE of 15, it may be considered undervalued relative to its peers.

  • Higher PE doesn’t always mean better

To select PE is good or not you can check company valuation. Higher PE is not good for company because investors giving higher price compare to his valuation and on that price you can select other peer group company to invest and in reverse for low PE.

  • A lower PE can indicate a good investment opportunity

At last What is good PE means if that stock PE ratio is less compare to his valuation or earning or peer group that means company PE is good to invest money for long term.

FINAL THOUGHT

A good PE ratio is not a fixed number but rather depends on the company’s valuation, earnings, and industry average. A stock with a PE lower than its peer group or intrinsic value may be a great long-term investment. Always compare before deciding!

How do I check if a stock is good or bad?

Checking whether a stock is good or bad isn’t just about its price or hype. It’s about digging deeper into its fundamentals, technicals, and future potential. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what to look for before putting your money into any Indian stock:

1. Check the Company’s Fundamentals

This is the foundation. Strong companies survive bear markets and thrive in bull runs.

  • Revenue & Profit Growth: Look for consistent growth over the last 5–10 years.
  • Debt-to-Equity Ratio: Lower is better; avoid highly leveraged companies.
  • Return on Equity (ROE): Shows how well the company is using your money. A good ROE is above 15%.
  • Earnings Per Share (EPS): Growing EPS means increasing profitability.
  • Free Cash Flow: Positive and growing cash flow is a green signal.

Example: Companies like HDFC Bank, TCS, and Asian Paints score well here.

2. Analyze Technical Indicators (For Short-Term and Entry/Exit)

Fundamentals tell what to buy. Technicals tell when to buy.

  • Trendlines & Moving Averages: Is the stock in an uptrend? 50DMA and 200DMA crossovers are crucial.
  • Relative Strength Index (RSI): RSI between 30–70 is a healthy range. Avoid overbought (above 70).
  • Volume: Rising volume with price indicates strong buying interest.

Bonus Tip: Use tools like TradingView or MoneyControl charts for quick technical checks.

3. Understand the Business and Sector

If you don’t understand what the company does, think twice before investing.

  • Is the company a market leader?
  • Is the sector growing (e.g., EV, Data Centers, Renewable Energy)?
  • Does it have a competitive advantage (patents, brand loyalty, monopoly)?

ExampleCAMS dominates mutual fund RTA services. CDSL leads in depository services.

4. Check the Management & Governance

Bad management can sink even a profitable business.

  • Look for transparency in annual reports.
  • Consistent dividend-paying history is a good sign.
  • Avoid companies with regulatory issues or sudden resignations of key personnel.

5. Future Potential & Moat

A good stock has a “moat” — a sustainable competitive advantage.

  • Does the company have pricing power?
  • Is it part of a futuristic industry (AI, Green Energy, Fintech)?
  • How is it adapting to disruption?

6. Red Flags – Signs of a Bad Stock

  • Pump-and-dump schemes (sudden spike in low-volume stocks).
  • Frequent equity dilution or bonus shares without strong reasons.
  • Negative news, poor earnings consistently, or promoter selling stakes.

Conclusion:

A good stock is not the one that’s trending today. It’s the one that consistently grows, manages risk, and fits your financial goals. Always combine fundamental strength with technical timing before investing.
