Who was the first choice to play the role of Tezaab in the film of the same name?

It’s said and even Aditya Pancholi had claimed that he was the first choice for Teezab. According to sources, N. Chandra had narrated the film to Aditya Pancholi who loved it and was ready to sign the film.

Few weeks later, he came to know that Anil Kapoor was roped in due to the influence of Boney Kapoor. Pancholi had hinted about the “favouritism” and ”politics” that takes place in Bollywood. He also stated that the same could be verified by director, N. Chandra.

However, some sources from the production team refuted these claims. According to them, the film was built entirely around Anil Kapoor, who was already an established star at that time.

For the female lead Meenakshi Seshadri was the original choice but was replaced by Madhuri Dixit due to payment matters and date issues.

Tezaab was a watershed moment in Anil Kapoor's career cementing his status as a top -tier superstar after Mr. India.

It was also a pivotal film in Madhuri Dixit's career propelling her to stardom. The film ran in theatres for more than 50 weeks. Also, it was N. Chandra's hat-trick at the box-office after the success of Ankush (1986) and Pratighaat (1987).

Why was Kishore Kumar the first choice for the role of Anand, and why didn't he end up doing the movie?

For Anand, Hrishikesh Mukherjee wanted a performer who could make the audience laugh and cry simultaneously.

The search was for a natural actor rather than a conventional hero. Secondly, the character’s blend of childlike innocence, deep emotional pathos and singing ability matched Kishore’s real-life personna.

However, the collabration did not happen for two reasons. The first was an unfortunate misunderstanding. Kishore who was upset after not being paid by a Bengali show organiser, had instructed his gatekeeper to shoo away Bengali visitors. Unfortunately Hrishikesh Mukherjee turned up and the gatekeeper turned away Mukherjee not letting him to meet Kishore Kumar.

Later, after the misunderstanding was resolved, one day Kishore appeared completely bald to avoid playing the role. In his very funny and unique way, this was an indication that he was not keen to act in that emotional, non-comic film.

If this was not enough, he also reportedly danced and sang, “What will you do now Hrishi?”

Who was the first choice for Rishi Kapoor's role in the film "Chandni"?

Govinda and Rekha were the first choice for Chandni, though Anil Kapoor was just considered for the same. The title, “Chandni” itself was the screen-name of Rekha in the film, “Silsila”. However Rekha refused the film. Coming back to the question.

Yash Chopra was going through a bad financial phase as his films were not clicking at that time. He wanted to make a present day romantic love story. Govinda was an emerging star at that time and Chopra narrated the story to Govinda.

Govinda straightaway rejected it as the film had a portion where the hero falls from a helicopter and has an accident due to which both his legs are damaged.

Govinda was not comfortable to play the part where he is disabled and is on a wheelchair. He did not want to play the role of a lame person.

Interestingly, it was a crucial part of the storyline and could not be changed. So he turned down the offer making way for Rishi Kapoor to romance Sridevi.
