Late Shankar Nag was an Indian actor, director and script writer of Konkani origin. He mostly worked in South Indian movies and in only a few Bollywood and Marathi language movies.
He was reportedly known to work for 20 hours. He never used to waste time.
Although nobody knows or heard of him, he is the one who is known for directing the popular Hindi serial “Malgudi days(1986)”.
He also wrote script for many Marathi and South Indian movies.

- He is the first Indian director to make a road based hiest, accident+political drama and Revenge+Reincarnation based movie in 1980’s.
- He was the first Indian film maker to make an underwater based movie near sea of Maldives with an underwater camera outside India in 1987. The German-American cameraman named Horwarth Whiteman shot the underwater scenes. The story was based on an American novel “The Pearl(1945)”. Although 'Anmol Moti' ( a Bollywood movie) was the first Indian film shot underwater in a pool, 'Ondu Muthina Kathe' is the first Indian movie to have been shot underwater in the actual sea, using an underwater camera.
- He was a visionary, first actor+activist who planned to bring metro to an Indian city. He even had construction plans.
