Can a rat survive a fall from the Eiffel Tower?

 

A mouse might survive but a rat does not.

Gravity pulls. Air pushes back. The problem is square cube law.

A rat reaches terminal velocity quickly. It is a heavy thing. Thirty miles an hour or so.

Maybe from 50 feet it don't die. Only badly hurt.

Taken from the top of the great tower. Three hundred meters down.

It breaks the bones on impact. A rat is like a human, muscle and bone. The rat is dead.

It doesn't matter what deck it falls from. The speed soon reaches its maximum. Too much.

A mouse is a different story.

Much lighter. Higher surface area relative to mass.

The air acts like thick cushion. An invisible drag like parachute.

Mouse drops down the same iron shaft and hits the pavement. It is stunned. It walks off.

The bio is a slave to the physics.

A mouse is hopping. A rat breaks. A man is broken. A horse splashes.

What is the significance of the rat to the Hindu god Ganesha?

 The narration of Rat as the vehicle of Ganapati in Puranas, is an allegorical way of presenting a deep spiritual message. This symbolism had been derived from the Rig Veda.

Here, Ganapati is the BRAHMAN or all powerful god and rat indicates our weaknesses, which eat away our spiritual inclination/strength.

अलाय्यस्य परशुर्ननाश तमा पवस्व देव सोम । आखुं चिदेव देव सोम ॥
alāyyasya paraśur nanāśa tam ā pavasva deva soma | ākhuṃ cid eva deva soma ||

English translation:

SOMA destroyed the destructive power (axe) of the alāyya. Soma! so also (make) the rat (to disappear). By purifying yourself flow here, o DIVINE Soma.

alāyya indicates a destructive creature/thief that destroys/steals wealth.

A rat is a creature that operates in the dark, chewing away at foundations quietly and surreptitiously without the owner immediately noticing. This is an exact parallel to human vices—like ego, doubt, desire, and laziness, following the path of UNTRUTH—which secretly consume a person's spiritual strength/inclination.

The rishi is requesting esoterically the BLISS/DIVINE SOMA to destroy the destructive power (axe) of alāyya. And, also requesting the SOMA to destroy the rat, so that the BLISS/DIVINE SOMA flows to him.

If understood properly, this Rik is advising the spiritual practitioner to get rid of vices or weaknesses, viz., ego, doubt, desire, and laziness, following the path of UNTRUTH, that stills progress in spiritual path of the individual, so that one can experience the DIVINE BLISS/SOMA.

ಇಲಿ ಬಿಲ ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ ಎಂದರೇನು?

 ಭೂಮಿಯ ಒಳಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ತರಹದ ಖನಿಜಗಳು, ಕಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಲು, ಪೆಟ್ರೋಲಿಯಂ ಎಣ್ಣೆ, ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ಅನಿಲ ಮತ್ತು ನೀರು - ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಸಿಗುತ್ತವೆ.

ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಯೂ ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾವುದೇ ಖನಿಜ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಕಡೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲವು ಕಡೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ

ಖನಿಜವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕರೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಅಪಾರ ಹಣದ ನಿವೇಶನ ಮಾಡಿ ಸ್ಫೋಟಕಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಖನಿಜವು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲ್ಮೈಯಿಂದ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಆಳದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಓಪನ್ ಕಾಸ್ಟ್ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಖನಿಜವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಂತಹ ಗಣಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ:

ಖನಿಜವು ನೆಲದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಾ ಆಳದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೆ ಅಂಡರ್ ಗ್ರೌಂಡ್ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಖನಿಜವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಂತಹ ಗಣಿಯ ಒಳಗೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಅಗಲವಾದ ಆಳವಾದ ಬಾವಿ ತೋಡಿ ಆ ಬಾವಿಯ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಆಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಕ್ಕಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುರಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ತೋಡಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಖನಿಜವನ್ನು ಹೊರ ತೆಗೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ತುಂಬಾ ಸಣ್ಣ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ

ಯಾವುದೇ ಖನಿಜ ಅಥವಾ ಕಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಲು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಒಳಗೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವುದಾದರೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಓಪನ್ ಕಾಸ್ಟ್ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ಅಥವಾ ಅಂಡರ್ ಗ್ರೌಂಡ್ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ವಿಧಾನಗಳು ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಗುಬ್ಬಿಗೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಯಾಕೆ?

ಯಾವುದೇ ಸ್ಫೋಟಕ ಬಳಸದೆ ಹಾರೆ, ಗುದ್ದಲಿ, ಎಲಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಬಾಂಡಲಿಗಳು, ಬಿದಿರಿನ ಏಣಿ, ಹಗ್ಗ, ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ನಡೆಸುವ ಡ್ರಿಲ್ ಯಂತ್ರ - ಇಂತಹ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬಳಸಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಕಡಿದಾದ ಸುರಂಗ ಕೊರೆದು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಒಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಕಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಲನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿ ಮೇಘಾಲಯದ ಕಡೆ ಇತ್ತು. ಇದನ್ನು ರ್‍ಯಾಟ್ ಹೋಲ್ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳ್ಳರು ಅಥವಾ ಹುಡುಗರು ಸಂದಿಯೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಕಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಲನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ತರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಗಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವವರು ಜೀವ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ನಿಷೇಧ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.

ಈ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ವಿಧಗಳಿವೆ:

೧. ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪಕ್ಕದಿಂದ ಬಿಲ ಕೊರೆದು ಒಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಕಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಲು ತರುವುದು - ಸೈಡ್ ಕಟಿಂಗ್ ವಿಧಾನ

೨. ಭೂಮಿಯ ಆಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಲು ಇದ್ದರೆ ಒಂದು ಬಾವಿ ತೋಡಿ ಬಿದಿರಿನ ಏಣಿಯಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಆಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಕ್ಕಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಲ ಕೊರೆದು ಕಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಲು ತರುವುದು - ಬಾಕ್ಸ್ ಕಟಿಂಗ್ ವಿಧಾನ.

ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಾಖಂಡದ ಉತ್ತರಕಾಶಿ ಬಳಿಯ ಸಿಲ್ಕ್ಯಾರಾ ಸುರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಕುಸಿತ ಉಂಟಾಗಿ ಒಳಗೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ 41 ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಲು ಹೋದಾಗ ಕೊನೆಯ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಯಂತ್ರವೂ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ರ್‍ಯಾಟ್ ಹೋಲ್ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ತಂತ್ರದ ನಿಪುಣರೇ 41 ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆತಂದರು.

ನಿಷೇಧ ಆಗಿರುವ ವಿಧಾನವೇ ಅವರ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಉಳಿಸಿತು ಎಂಬುದೇ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ವಿಪರ್ಯಾಸ!

ಜೈಲಿನಿಂದ ಕೈದಿಗಳು ಸುರಂಗ ತೋಡಿ ಪರಾರಿಯಾಗುವುದು , ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ನೆಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುರಂಗ ತೋಡಿ ಹಣ ಲೂಟಿ ಮಾಡುವುದು - ಇವುಗಳೂ ರ್‍ಯಾಟ್ ಹೋಲ್ ಮೈನಿಂಗ್ ವಿಧಾನಗಳೇ!
