Which are the Bollywood movies that were shot but never got released?

There are many movies which were either shelved mid-way or not able to find distributors. However mentioning three most promising films of the 90's decade which would have been a treat to watch but could not see the light of the day.

DUS:

This film would have surely entered the 100 crore club. The trailer created an instant buzz on the satellite channels. The film starred Salman Khan and Sunjay Dutt as Army Officers whereas Vinod Khanna played the chief. It was supposed to be the debut film of actor Rahul Dev who played a terrorist in the film.

Raveena Tandon also played a sort of “Lady Gabbar Singh” terrorist, chewing tobacco and riding horses in the mountain ranges of Utah in United States where a major portion of the film was shot. Shilpa Shetty played a press reporter.

The film was based on terrorism and patriotism where the main lead actors invade Pakistan in order to avoid a fourth Indo - Pak war. It was a much revered dream of Mukul Anand but his untimely death due to a heart attack led the film to be shelved after 40% completion.

The music of the film was composed by Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy. A compilation of the film's rushes are avaliable on you tube in the form of songs, “Mahiya" sung by Sukhvinder Singh and “Uda de Mere Hosh" by Anupama Deshpande. The song “Suno gaur se duniya walo”, sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Udit Narayan was later released and was a big hit.

TIME MACHINE:

Time Machine was a science fiction film which made news in the first part of the 90's decade. Directed by Shekhar Kapoor, the film was shelved due to Shekhar Kapoor's International commitments. The film starred Aamir Khan and Raveena Tandon in main lead with a very different storyline.

Aamir travels back from the 90's decade to the 60's decade and meets his parents played by Naseerudin Shah and Rekha before they ever met themselves.

Today it sounds normal but three decades before it would have done wonders.

KALINGA

Kalinga was a special film because it not only starred Dilip Kumar but also would have been the directorial debut of the actor. It was jointly produced by Sudhakar Bokade and Saira Banu.

Dilip Kumar was to play a Justice in the film who takes revenge from his sons because he is ill-treated by them after his retirement. Raj Kiran was also a part of the film and it was during this time when he suddenly went missing.

Sunny Deol left the film because of date problems and was replaced by a newcomer Punjabi actor Amitosh Maan opposite Meenakshi Sheshadri. Jackie Shroff was the other actor in the film. The film is 70% complete.

Two films from great directors like Mukul Anand and Shekhar Kapoor, one great actor, Dilip Kumar wearing the director's cap....... MISSED!

Bollywood is not just about hits and flops.
