Yes amir khan did a movie called pk but he also made a movie called secret superstar showing Islamic Orthodoxy.
SRK did My name is khan but he also did a movie called Ashoka glorifying samraat Ashok.
Now it's not their fault that secret superstar or Ashoka flopped. Bollywood runs a business and they produce whatever that can be sold to their customers ie audience.
However that doesn't mean bollywood produce great movies. What most popular bollywood movies are lacking from past 1 decade is a sense of indian-ness. The stories,cinematography,actors etc simply don't look indian at all
. In most of their movies half of the storyline is set somewhere in Europe or usa or Bangkok singapore etc. Just pick a popular movie of any bollywood “superstar” From past 10–15 years and you will see atleast Half of the storyline is set in foreign country. In k3g, pardes, my name is khan, housefull, Namaste London, welcome, dhoom 2, dhoom 3, happy new year erc etc the lead actor either lives in foreign or goes to foreign to do something and the story revolvs around it. While popular regional movies such as pushpa, kgf etc has their whole story set in India and the shooting locations are also in India. This is why these regional movies are so appealing to indian audience from all regions. What bollywood movies need in to bring back the sense of “indianess” . Stop shooting in Europe or USA, stop making the actor look like hollywood actors, stop setting half of the story in foreign country.
