What are some intriguing facts about Kajol's personal life?

She grew up in a big film family, with her mother Tanuja being a famous actress and her father Shomu Mukherjee a filmmaker, so movies were in her blood. But despite her background, she never really bought into the typical glamorous lifestyle. Her relationship and marriage to Ajay Devgn is a great example of this.

When they first started dating in the mid-1990s, the media was highly sceptical because their personalities are total opposites. Kajol is famous for being loud, talkative and energetic, while Ajay is deeply quiet, introverted, and reserved.

They met on a film set because Kajol was brought in as a last-minute replacement, and they slowly became friends while they were both seeing other people. There was never a grand romantic proposal. They just grew close and decided to marry.

When they got married in 1999, they chose to do it quietly on the terrace of Ajay’s home. To protect their privacy, they did not hire a professional photographer, and Ajay took the photos himself. Decades later, they are still together, which is quite rare in the industry.

Kajol jokingly said recently that the secret to their long marriage is simple things like partial deafness and selective amnesia. They also do not do traditional celebrity date nights. Since they travel so much for work, they prefer to just hang out at home with their children whenever they have free time.

Another interesting aspect of her personal life is her attitude toward money and shopping. Her friend and her husband have both pointed out that she is low-maintenance. She used to shop at local markets and later shifted to basic online shopping because she genuinely dislikes spending money on expensive designer things. She has openly admitted that she gets stressed out by overpriced luxury items and only wears them for public events, preferring comfortable clothes in her daily life. She even joked that she would much rather invest her money in fixed deposits where she knows she will get a return.

Even internationally, her personal impact is unique. She is one of the very few Indian actors to have a miniature doll version of herself created and displayed at the famous Harrods luxury department store in London.
