Rajneeti movie has no positive characters and every character is an either dark or grey. The movie - Rajneeti directed by Prakash Jha was based on integration with retelling/inspiration of the Mahabharata epic and Godfather movie.
While epic Mahabharata clearly mentions Adhrmis and role Lord Krishna/Pandavas vs Kauravas dharam yudh. This movie had nearly all characters with their motives/manipulation and conspiracies.
Veerendra Pratap - played by Manoj Bajpayee shown as power hungry leader who thinks he deserves to be main leader and CM candidate. He conspires to kill his Uncle and manipulates jail/tough time for his cousin brother Prithvi portrayed by Arjun Rampal. Later also conspires to kill Prithviraj Pratap.
Prithviraj Pratap- hot headed cousin brother of Veerendra is equally power hungry and kills police officer and a lady who conspires against him.
Samar Pratap - initially reluctant to be party of the political battles but starts killing to take revenge on Veerendra Pratap and ensure his party wins ( Babulal, Suraj Kumar, Veerendra Pratap ). Samar was played by Ranbir Kapoor.
Suraj Kumar was on screen played by Ajay Devgan. Starts as a friend to Veerendra Pratap, however starts all the bloody war by conspiring to kill Samar and Prithvi’s father. Later conspires to kill Prithvi Pratap.
Brij Gopal played by Nana Patekar - rather than stopping this family political feud, one sided supports Chandra Pratap ( Samar and Prithvi’s father ) restricts role of son of incumbent CM’s son- Veerendra Pratap. He manipulates with Chandra Pratap to target and weaken Veerendra Pratap’s position in the party. Later conspires with Samar for killings of Babulal, Veerendra n Suraj Kumar.
Bhanu Pratap - wants his son to lead the party, while brother Chandra Pratap - post the illness of Bhanu Pratap, hijacks the party in his side.
Mother of Samar and Prithvi abandons Suraj Kumar at birth, however, to win the election, invites Suraj Kumar to her side stating Suraj is her son. Katrina’s character while not showcased doing any crime, however supports power hungry and criminal leaders like Samar and Prithvi in her normal to political journey. She never distance herself from them. Sarah and Naseeruddin Shah have less screen time so character arc cannot be drawn.
Hence this movie had all morally corrupt characters, few dark, grey based on the interpretation of the movie and involved family political feud leading to chaos and bloody path.
