Daksha (son of Bramha) did great spiritual practice to please Mā Ādi Shakti. As the wheel of time propelled, Mā gave him Darshan and asked for his desire. He asked Mā to incarnate as his daughter.
So the Goddess granted him the boon and incarnated as his daughter whom he named Sati.
As a child she used to adore the tales that expounded the lilas of Maheshvara.
When the time came to get his daughters married off, Sati rejected every groom and was ready to accept only Shiv as her husband. She worshipped Shiv a lot so that he fulfills her wish. Amidst this journey Bhagvān Shiv and his ganas used to often test her. As she passed the tests, he decided to grant her the wish she longed for. Once married to Bhagvān, She moved with him to Kailash. This did not sit well with Daksha as he disliked Shankar Bhagvān for his odd behaviour and ascetic temperament.
From Daksha’s despise and persistent ill behaviour whatever happened was a lila of Shiv himself for us humans and to crush Daksha’s oversized ego since he is Trikāladarshi (knower of past, present and future). It was not a tragedy. Later on he married Pārvati Maa (rebirth of Sati only).
