What are some interesting facts?
INR Coins!
Not that interesting though but…
I am quite sure you encounter INR coins everyday but have you ever noticed something strange on it? (see image)
These marks might seem strange at first glance but it’s there for a purpose.
It tells us where the coin has been minted.
Actually there are four places in India where coins are minted.
- Mumbai
- Alipore (Kolkata)
- Saifabad, Cherlapally (Hyderabad)
- Noida (UP)
If there’s a diamond sign on the coin, it was minted in Mumbai.
If there’s no mark, it was minted in Kolkata.
If star, it was minted in Hyderabad.
If it’s a solid dot, it’s from Noida.
Not that useful but quite interesting, isn’t it?
