It tells us where the coin has been minted.

Actually there are four places in India where coins are minted.

2. Alipore (Kolkata)
3. Saifabad, Cherlapally (Hyderabad)
4. Noida (UP)

If there’s a diamond sign on the coin, it was minted in Mumbai.
