What are some inspiring stories about women?

In the year 1917, a Tamil Indian girl was born in a middle-class family in Rangoon, Burma, where her father had gone for a living. He named her Sivaramakrishna Iyer Padmavathi. At a time when women were traditionally confined to the kitchen/illiterate, the middle-class girl did MBBS from Rangoon Medical College.

When the Japanese invaded Burma, they briefly returned to their traditional home in Coimbatore. In 1949, she went to London to do an FRCP, then unimaginable for a Female Indian doctor. She was selected to study further at Johns Hopkins University, US, where she trained under the legendary cardiologist Helen Taussig. Thereafter, she moved to Harvard University, where she trained under the Father of Cardiology- Paul Dudley White.

When a glorious cardiology career awaited her in the US, she was firm in returning to India & serving Indians. She joined Lady Hardinge Medical College in 1953, to become India's First Lady Cardiologist.

S.I.Padmavathi started India's first Cathlab & exclusive Cardiac Clinic. Started India's first DM Cardiology course. She founded the All India Heart Foundation (AIHF) in 1962, to serve the poor & needy. She joined Maulana Azad Medical College in 1967, by which time her fame had spread. The Indian Govt under Indira Gandhi honoured her with the Padma Bhushan, that year.

She was the cardiologist & administrator of 3 great colleges at the same time- MAMC, G.B.Pant Hospital & Lok Nayak Hospital. She retired as Director, of MAMC in 1978.

She set up the National Heart Institute (NIH) in 1981, in Delhi. At age 90, Padmavathi became a fellow of The European Society of Cardiology in 2007.

Till age 95, (the year 2015), Padmavathi worked 12 hours a day, five days a week, to serve poor and needy Indians, with state-of-the-art Cardiac Care. She retired from active practice, that year. The Government of India bestowed India's second highest Civilian Award, the Padma Vibushan on S.I.Padmavathi in 1992.

Both Padmavathi and her sister Janaki(neurologist) remained single and started the Janaki-Padmavathi trust, pouring in their entire earnings to start a trust to provide poor people with money for life-saving Heart Surgeries.

After dedicating her entire life to serving the poor in the field of Cardiology, S.I.Padmavathi passed away in 2020, at age 103 from Corona.

Imagine the steely resolve, vision, brilliance and sheer determination of this iron- lady to shatter the glass ceiling in achieving all these, serving poor Indians with quality cardiac care, and finally giving away all her wealth to her fellow citizens.

Here is an inspiring story of the first female cardiologist of India, who achieved so much by returning to her country. Tamilnadu & India should be mighty proud of their daughter- Sivaramakrishna Iyer Padmavathi!

What biological advantages do women have over men?

Women generally live longer than men.

Women may have slightly better reflexes on average than men, which is why a disproportionate number of Wobbly Goblin pilots were women.

Women may have better pain tolerance on average than men.

Women on average have less raw upper-body strength than men, butgreater endurance.

Women are less likely to be colorblind and more likely to have superior color vision, in large part because the genes for color reception photopigments are carried on the X chromosome.

Thanks to that duplicate X chromosome, women are much less likely to suffer from X-linked chromosomal abnormalities like fragile X syndrome.

What are some psychological facts about women?

1. Women have better senses of smell and taste. They have 50 more cells (neurons) in their olfactory bulbs—the part of the brain responsible for processing smells. Women also usually have more taste buds than men.
2. Men literally have bigger hearts than women. A female heart is about 2/3 the size of a man’s, and beats fewer times per minute.
3. The differences in the way men and women see the world is partly physical. On average, men are more likely to be colorblind, but their eyes also sense movement better. Women are able to distinguish small difference in color better.
4. Women typically have lower blood pressure than men—regardless of race or ethnicity.
5. Because of the high production of estrogen during puberty, girls brains generally mature two years earlier than boys.
6. When it comes to responding to emotional experiences, men only use one side of the brain while women use both sides. Women also retain a stronger memory for emotional events than men.
7. Women have thinner skin than men, and are thus more prone to develop lines and wrinkles as they lose collagen from aging. Men also have a higher collagen density, which makes them look younger longer.

8. While Men have physically larger brains than women, size does not directly correlate with intelligence. What’s learned by experience or study helps forge neuronal connections, which in turn determines intelligence.

9. Women have an average life expectancy that is 5.3 years longer than men, largely due to better immunity, reduced risk for blood disease, and lower risk taking.

10. If anyone calls girls after their name, they like it very much.

She attired male s dresses and rode on the elephants on the roads to give a darshan to Delhi people like his father .Her intimacy with Yakut , an Abyssinian general irked her Turk generals .She was killed along with her Abyssinian husband.

Rani Padmini or Padmavathi:

The folklore of Rajasthan narrates that the queen of Chittoor, Padmini, was the most beautiful woman in her times. A courtier has informed of her beauty to the Delhi sultan Alaudin . He invaded the fort of Chittoor and tried to defeat its king and take possession of his wife as mistress. But he had to settle for a truce due to heavy counter attacks by Rajputs. Alaudin put one condition. He has to see the beauty of the queen at least in the mirror. On seeing the mirror image Alaudin felt his courtier only told the truth. He returned to Delhi and constructed a huge army . He again invaded Chittoor successfully and killed the king. But the queen Padmini conducted Agni jatha a ritual suicide,
