What are the important places to visit in Manali?

 # The must-visit places in Manali

Manali is one of the busiest hill stations in Himachal Pradesh and rightly so. Situated between the snow-covered mountains, amidst pine forests, rivers, waterfalls and scenic valleys, this place can offer every possible kind of getaway. Be it nature, adventure, photography, pilgrimage or just peaceful mountain vibes, Manali will not disappoint.

Here are some of the must visit places in and around Manali.

1. Hidimba Devi Temple

Placed among the tall deodar trees, the Hidimba Devi Temple is one of the key attractions in Manali. This historical temple stands in a distinct wooden and stone architecture style and is believed to be associated with Hidimba Devi from Mahabharata.

The green forest around this place adds a special photographic charm to this serene spot.

2. Solang Valley

Solang Valley

This place must be on your must-visit list if you are an adventure junkie. The picturesque mountain view is breathtaking and features sports like paragliding, skiing, zorbing, and horse riding, according to the season.

In case you do not plan on indulging in adventure sports, just witnessing the beauty of Solang Valley is sufficient.

3. Rohtang Pass

If you are planning to visit Manali, a trip to Rohtang Pass is considered incomplete. Rohtang Pass allows you to experience magnificent Himalayas along with snow-covered landscapes during the appropriate season. Here you can take part in activities associated with the snow.

However, your journey might depend on the weather and road conditions as it can impact your visit. Himachal tourism suggests this as one of Manali's major attractions.

4. Old Manali & Manu Temple

For the relaxed you, spend some time exploring Old Manali. Old Manali has a lot to offer with its narrowly laid out streets, cafs, old houses, shops and the beautiful mountain essence that gives it a unique charm.

The Manu temple is dedicated to Sage Manu and holds cultural and spiritual importance. As mentioned in Himachal tourism "Manali is named after Manu Alya".

5. Vashisht Hot Springs & Temple

Vashisht is another very popular stop near Manali, renowned for its old temples and natural hot water spring. Here, you can experience traditional architecture and enjoy the scenic valley.

6. Jogini Falls

Jogini Falls

Short walks through nature while admiring water falls is perfect for you if you enjoy it. The walk through the nearby village and forest, while admiring the stunning views of mountains and valleys, gives a pleasing feeling as you discover the Jogini Falls.

7. Mall Road and Van Vihar

You can enjoy the evenings on Manali Mall Road for various shopping experience, as it is lined with shops exhibiting local handicrafts and woolens, souvenirs, cafs and restaurants.

Van Vihar National Park

Van Vihar National Park will surely give you a pleasant time to take a stroll or sit there while you enjoy the cool breeze passing through the pine trees.

Final Thoughts

Manali is not just about experiencing snow, but it has a variety of experiences on offer with its mountains, temples, waterfall, adventure sports, forest, cafs and its local charm. If this is your first trip, I would recommend you to go to Hidimba Devi Temple, Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass, Old Manali and Manu Temple, Vashisht and Jogini Falls. You should be able to take sightseeing trip and relax yourself along with undertaking many adventurous sports within a couple of days of your stay.

It is most important that you don't rush the journey at all. Some of the finest experiences would be the nature walks through pinewoods, relaxing near the Beas River with a cup of tea and soaking in the peaceful mountain vibes.

What is the most important lesson in life?

The most important lesson of life is that life does not teach any lesson to anyone.

It is foolish to start treating the experiences of your life or someone else’s life as a lesson of life.

Please read this story.

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages.

It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

“Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

This is what happens to people who consider their life experiences as lessons of life. In reality,

  • What did not work for you once, may work for you next time.
  • What worked for you once, may not work for you next time.
  • The strategy that leads you to failure, may make another person successful.
  • The strategy that worked for others, may fail you.

Many people become stupid at the older age when they accumulate so many false lessons of their life.

They keep advising old tricks to the younger generation because it worked for them and they still expect that the same tricks would work for everyone.

They refuse to accept the reality that different things work for different people in different situations.

Please don’t learn any lessons from life.

Understand that the life is ever fresh, ever changing and ever surrounded in deep mystery.

It is our foolishness to formulate it and codify it in words.

It would be wise to ponder over the words of Albert Einstein, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.”

The beauty of life lies in its mystery.

Enjoy the mystery of life till you are alive.

Don’t try to convert your life into a compilation of boring lessons.

No philosopher has ever been able to capture life into words.
