He was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu and physically the strongest character in Valmiki Ramayana let alone being the greatest archer in Treta Yuga (the second cycle of existence).
The exact place is Mauritius in the Indian Ocean (named after Mareecha) where Lord Rama threw the demon spy of Ravana named Mareecha after killing him. The place where Lord Rama slew Mareecha is Dandakaranya (Dandaka forest in present day Chattisgarh) and after that Lord Rama threw the corpse of Mareecha upto a distance of 400 Yojanas.
1 Yojana = 12.8 Km
400 Yojanas = 400 × 12.8 = 5120 Km
Roughly the equal distance from Dandakaranya (in Chhattisgarh) to Mauritius (on Indian Ocean) which is 5127 Km.
