Pyar ke Do Pal was a remake of Do Kaliyan which itself was a remake of Parent Trap. At the time, two films on the same topic were being made- Pyar ke Do Pal starring Mithun, Jayapradha and Simple Kapadia, and Pyar ke Kabil starring Rishi Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure and Asha Sachdev. Eventually Pyar ke Do Pal released first and did average business, and Pyar ke Kabil failed badly.
The reason why someone may believe that she overshadowed Jayaprada was because she played a vampish character with lot of sensuousness whereas Jayaparada played her typical sobbing role she was known for. Otherwise Simple Kapadia barely did anything significant in this film. And she didn't get any other acting assignment after this film and shifted to costume designing particlarly for her sister Dimple Kapadia.
