Goddess Tara is second das mahavidya. Meaning name of Goddess Tara is protection, saviour and shinning. Goddess Tara is worship in Buddhism and Jainism.
Goddess Tara is seated in the pratyalidha Asana on the heart of corpse, supreme, laughing horribly, holding clever, blue lotus, dagger and bowl, uttering the mantra Hum, coloured blue, her hair braided with serpents. Goddess Tara also know as ugratara.

Goddess Tara appear in the form of mother to save Lord Shiva from adverse situation and to recover him. Goddess Tara fed milk and Lord Shiva get consciousness and poison is absorb by the Maa Goddess Tara. Hence, Lord Shiva came to be known as Neelakantha and Goddess Tara as Neel Saraswati.
