 Priety got her first break in a TV commercial for Perk Chocolate. She met a director at her friend's party who convinced her to choose acting as her profession.

She gained limelight with yet another commercial of Lyril Soap and was known as the Lyril Girl.

She accompanied a friend for an audition where she met director Shekhar Kapur who insisted her to give audition. Shekar was impressed and Priety would have made her debut with his film but the film was shelved.

It was alleged that Priety and Shekhar Kapoor were in a relationship and his wife Suchitra Krishnamoorty claimed that Priety was the reason behind her seperation.

She married businessman Ness Wadia but broke off later. She even filed a case of molestation against him.
