What are some lesser-known sights to see when visiting the Mysore Palace?

 Normally tourists just visit Mysuru palace and the museum behind it. There are many temples inside the palace premises and each temple has a story behind it.

• Sri Lakshmiramana Swami Temple – Oldest temple in the city. Located towards the western part of the fort, inside the Palace. An inscription found in Cole’s Gardens (present day Bannimantap) registers a Grant for God Lakshmiramana in 1499 AD. According to the annals of the Mysuru Royal Family, a half blind Brahim was cured his blindness around the year 1599 at the interposition of Raja Wadiyar. The temple is also important as all the religious ceremonies in connection with coronation of child Raja Krishnaraja Wadiyar III were held in this temple on June 30, 1799.

• Sri Shweta Varahaswamy Temple - located beside the south gate. It’s constructed in the famous style of the great Hoysala Empire, which controlled most of Karnataka from the tenth until the fourteenth centuries.

• Sri Trinayaneshvara Swami Temple – Ancient temple which existed even before the time of Raja Wadiyar, located outside the Original Mysuru fort, on the bank of Devaraya Sagar (Doddakere). It was during the time of Kanthirava Narasaraja Wadiyar and his successor Dodda Devaraja Wadiyar that the fort was enlarged and the Trinayaneshvara temple came within the fort.

• Sri Prasanna Krishanswami temple – The Mysuru dynasty claims its descent from Yadu Vamsa (Yadu Race) founded by Sri Krishna of Mahabharata. Therefore, Krishnaraja Wadiyar III felt sad that there was no temple dedicated to Krishna. To fulfil this , he started the construction of Sri Prasanna Krishna Temple in 1825 and according to inscription, it was completed in 1829.

• Kille Venkatramana Swamy Temple – During the time of Tipu, the Mysuru family was still in Srirangapatna. Queen Lakshmammanni, wife of Krishnaraja Wadiyar II was deeply worried about the dynasty and its future. Then lord Venkataramana is said to have appeared in her dream, and directed her that his statue which is in Balamuri (a place on the banks of Cauvery river) should be consecrated in Mysuru. By this pious act, her dynasty would get salvation. She therefore, proceeded to Balamuri without the knowledge of the Sultan and brought the image of Venkataramana, consecrated it in the temple, and offered continuous worship. This is said to have helped the family and after the fall of Tippu, the Kingdom was restored to the Wadiyar dynasty.

• Sri Bhuvaneshwari Temple – located on northern side of the Palace Fort corresponding to the Varahaswamy temple in the south, thus providing a symmetrical structure in the fort complex. Constructed by Sri Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar in the year 1951. One of the important objects in the temple is a copper Surya Mandala which is said to have been transferred from the Palace to this temple by His Highness Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar.

• Sri Gayatri Temple – located in the south-east corner of the fort directly corresponding to the Trinayaneshara swamy temple constructed by Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar in 1953. Three shrines dedicated to Savithri, Gayathri and Saraswathi.

ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರ ರಂಗ ಮತ್ತು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ನಂಟಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನೆನಪು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳದಿದ್ದರೆ ಈ ಉತ್ತರ ಅಪೂರ್ಣ ಎನಿಸಬಹುದು.1954ರಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭಗೊಂಡ ಪ್ರೀಮಿಯರ್ ಸ್ಟುಡಿಯೋ ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರ ರಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಐದು ದಶಕಗಳ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿ ಅನೇಕ ಭಾಷೆಗಳ 800 ಸಿನೆಮಾಗಳ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾಯಿತು.ಈ ಸ್ಟುಡಿಯೋ ಈಗ ನೆನಪು ಮಾತ್ರ. ಈ ಶತಮಾನದ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಟುಡಿಯೋ ಮಾಲೀಕರಾದ ಪ್ರಿ ಮಿಯರ್ ಬಸವರಾಜಯ್ಯನವರ ಸಂದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ ನಾವು ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಸಫಲತೆ ಕಂಡ ಕ್ಷಣವಿದು. ಇದೇ ಅವರ ಕೊನೆಯ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಭೇಟಿ ಎಂದೂ ಹೇಳಬಹುದು.ಸ್ಟುಡಿಯೋಮೇಲಿನ ಗೌರವದಿಂದ ಅದರ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿಂತು ತೆಗೆದ ಅವಿಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ ಫೋಟೋ.2018ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೀಮಿಯರ್ ನೆಲಸಮಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.(ಇದೊಂದು ಅಪರೂಪದ ಅಥವಾ ಪ್ರಿಮಿಯರ್ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ದಾಖಲೆ ಎನ್ನಬಹುದಾದ ಚಿತ್ರ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ನಮಗಿದೆ )ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ, ಹಿತೈಷಿ ಗಣೇಶ್ ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು, ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ರವೀಂದ್ರ ಜೋಶಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಾನು.

*ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಕಲಾಮಂದಿರ.ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ದಿ. ಆರ್. ಗುಂಡೂರಾಯರ ಕನಸಿನ ಕೂಸು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಕಲಾ ಮಂದಿರ. ಮೈಸೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಿತ ಗುಂಡೂರಾಯರಿಗೆ ಈ ನಗರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಪಾರ ಒಲವು. ನಾಟಕ ಕಲೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಹೀಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ಒಂದೇ ಸೂರಿನಡಿ ನಡೆಯಲು ಚಿಂತನೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಭೂಮಿ ಮಂಜೂರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಮುಂದೆ ರಾಮಕೃಷ್ಣ ಹೆಗಡೆಯವರ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಗೊಂಡ ಕಲಾ ಮಂದಿರ 1985ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಸೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಪ್ರಥಮ ವಿಶ್ವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿತ್ತು.

 ಮೈಸೂರು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಹೆಸರು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಇದರ ಹಿಂದಿರುವ ಇತಿಹಾಸವೆಂದರೆ :

‘ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ’ ಎಂಬ ಪದವು ಹಳೆ ಮೈಸೂರು ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಇದು ಇಡೀ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ನಮ್ಮ ರಾಜಮನೆತನಗಳಾದ ಚಾಲುಕ್ಯರು, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಕೂಟರು, ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಬಲ ಎಂದು ಕರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು, ಅಂದರೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಸೈನ್ಯ. ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮೂಲ ಹೆಸರು ಕರ್ನಾಟ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ಎಂದು.

ರಾಜ್ಯ ಏಕೀಕರಣ ಚಳವಳಿಯ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ಆಲೂರು ವೆಂಕಟರಾಯರು ಇದನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಿದರು, ನಂತರ ಇಡೀ ಚಳುವಳಿಯ ವೇಗವನ್ನು ವರ್ಧಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಅಂತಿಮವಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಚಳವಳಿಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಲ್ಲಿ ಮರೆತುಹೋದ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಆತ್ಮಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಮರಳಿ ತರಲು ಆಲೂರು ವೆಂಕಟರಾಯರು ಪುಸ್ತಕವೊಂದನ್ನು ಬರೆದಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಪುಸ್ತಕಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಗಥ ವೈಭವ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟರು. ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪದವನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಇಡೀ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ಆ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆಂದು ಅದು ಸಾಬೀತುಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದು ಹೊಸ ಹೆಸರಲ್ಲ.

ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಕೂಟರ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಅಥವಾ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವಾಬಹುದು.

ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಕೃತಿ, ‘ಕವಿರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗ’ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಗಡಿಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋದಾವರಿ ಎಂದು ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾವೇರಿ ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥ ಇಂದಿನ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ನಾಸಿಕ್ ನಿಂದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮೈಸೂರು. ಇದು ೯ ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಕಥೆ.

ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಕೂಟ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ ನೃಪತುಂಗ ಅಮೋಘವರ್ಷ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವುದು "ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು" ಕಾವೇರಿಯಿಂದ ಗೋದಾವರಿಯವರೆಗೆ ೯ ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಿತ್ತು ಅಂತ.

ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಎಂಬ ಪದವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೇರೆಯಾವ ಹೆಸರುಗಳು ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಒಂದೇ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾದ ಹೆಸರು.

ಭಾರತೀಯ ರೈಲ್ವೆಯು ಸಾರಿಗೆ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾರಿಗೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ರೈಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯವೂ ಕೊಟ್ಯಂತರ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರು ಒಂದೆಡೆಯಿಂದ ಮತ್ತೊಂದೆಡೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಟಿಕೆಟ್‌ ದರಗಳು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಇರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ಈ ಸಾರಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಜನರು ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಮೈಸೂರು ನಡುವೆ ಯಾವೆಲ್ಲ ರೈಲುಗಳು ಸಂಚಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಯಗಳ ವಿವರನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಗಮನಿಸಿ.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಮೈಸೂರು ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರ ಅನುಕೂಲಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ವಿವಿಧ ರೀತಿಯ ರೈಲುಗಳ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 20 ರೈಲುಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಆಗಾಗ ವಿಶೇಷ ರೈಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ಬಿಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗದ 20 ರೈಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವು ಎಕ್ಸ್‌ಪ್ರೆಸ್ ರೈಲುಗಳಾಗಿವೆ

ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ 10 ರೈಲುಗಳು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಾರ್ಹ ಮತ್ತು ಆರಾಮದಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. 5 ಸೂಪರ್‌ಫಾಸ್ಟ್ ರೈಲುಗಳಿವೆ. 2 ಮೆಮು ರೈಲುಗಳಿದ್ದು, ಇವು ಕಡಿಮೆ ದೂರ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇನ್ನು 1 ಶತಾಬ್ದಿ ರೈಲು ಸೇವೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವೇಗದ ರೈಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ 2 ವಂದೇ ಭಾರತ್ ಐಸ್ಪೀಡ್‌ ರೈಲುಗಳು ಸಂಚರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು-ಮೈಸೂರು ರೈಲುಗಳ ವಿವರ
1. ರೈಲು ನಂಬರ್ 16218 ಸಾಯಿನಗರ ಶಿರಡಿ-ಮೈಸೂರು ಎಕ್ಸ್‌ಪ್ರೆಸ್‌ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ರಾತ್ರಿ 12:55ಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಮೈಸೂರನ್ನು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 03:20ಕ್ ತಲುಪಲಿದೆ.

🔹Train No. 06207 Mysuru-Danapur Express Special will depart from Mysuru at 4:30 PM on 18.01.2025, 15.02.2025 & 01.03.2025 (Saturdays) and reach Danapur at 10:00 AM on Tuesday.

🔹Train No. 06208 Danapur-Mysuru Express Special will depart from Danapur at 1:45 AM on 22.01.2025, 19.02.2025 & 05.03.2025 (Wednesdays) and arrive at Mysuru at 3:00 PM on Friday.
