What are some mind-blowing facts about computers?

  1. You cannot create a folder in Windows, which is named CON/conPRN/prnAUX/aux, and NUL/nul, since these words are reserved by the DOS.
  2. What is commonly known by the name of Windows today was earlier decided to be named as Interface Manager, if the marketing whiz, Rowland Hanson, had not convinced Bill Gates that Windows was a far better name.

3. This is a picture of ENIAC, the world's first substantial computer.

It contained 17.5k vacuum tubes and acquired a 50-foot long basement room. It weighed an enormous 27+ tons.

4. The woman who rented her Garage to two Standford Ph.D. students -Larry Page and Sergey Brin (who were working on the new search engine Google) later joined Google as its 16th employee next year. Also, she became the CEO of Youtube later. We can say that her renters ended up offering a bit more than paying the rent on time and keeping the space tidy.

5. Computer worms are made to deliver malicious malware to your computer. But some worms are helpful for us too. For example the Welchia Worm.

The Welchia worm was a so-called helpful worm that exploited a vulnerability in the Microsoft Remote procedure call (RPC) to search for and delete the harmful Blaster worm.

It was the first computer to do partial differential equations, but the most amazing thing to note about this is that it was majorly built upon water.

It used a series of interconnected water-filled tubes. The adjustments in the taps and plugs were made to change the variables, and then determine the answers based on the resulting water levels in the tubes.
