Which Bollywood actors miserably failed on their launch?

I call it Prem Agony. This was the launch pad of Feroz Khan’s son Fardeen Khan opposite Meghna Kothari. Can be considered as the worst performance ever. Said to be a burning love story it had no fire and the audience could not connect with it as it had a continuous dose of overacting and a very poor dialogue delivery. Budget of the film was 6 crores and it bombed at the box office with poor reviews from critics as well as movie goers. Still Fardeen got the Filmfare award for the best male debut and we all know why ??

PREM

This marked the debut of Sanjay Kapoor. Tabu was the female lead of the film. Overall the film looked nice and had average music too but the weak story line ruined everything. Both of them had dual roles and the theme was based on reincarnation and Sanjay’s performance was below average. The film was also delayed as Shekhar Kapur was to direct it but finally ended up with Satish Kaushik.

REFUGEE

Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Refugee was inspired by a short story Love across the salt desert. The audience did not liked the movie. We have seen stars debut with a grand look but this had the leads in an unconventional role. Also the film suffered for its weak editing. The music of the film was a hit. It cannot be said a failure as it was the fifth highest grossing film of that year but yes Abhishek and Kareena did not created a buzz from it.

Do failed sequels have an impact on an actor or actress's career?

 Many sequels failed in the Indian cinema despite of major success of their prequels. For example the sequels like Indian 2, Chandramukhi 2 and War 2 made a great disappointment for the audience and poorly performed at the box office irrespective of high expectations.

Before the release of Kamal Haasan starred Indian 2 there was a high expectation among the audience but it miserably failed at the box office and widely got criticized for its outdated screenplay and weak execution.

The failure of Indian 2 has affected the career of Kamal Haasan to some extent, but the damage was less due to his overall popularity, his big achievements, due to his contributions and legacy.

But Kamal Haasan widely got criticized for his choices of roles. Following the failure of Indian 2, Kamal Haasan stepped down from hosting the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil and stated that due to schedule conflicts he discontinued with the reality show.

Following the failure of Indian 2, his another film Thug Life under the direction of Mani Ratnam also underperformed and again the audience got disappointed.

Kangana Ranaut starred Tamil film Chandramukhi 2 is a big box office failure film, definitely it affected the filmy career of Kangana. She got criticized for her poor dance in the film, she got compared with Jyotika who acted in the first part of Chandramukhi and Jyothika got widely appreciated for her strong performance. Kangana failed to give a good performance as per expectations, critics and the audience criticized for casting her in the film.

On the influence of the failure of Chandramukhi 2, her other films Dhaakad in 2022, Tejas in 2023 also failed at the box office. She didn't get other filmy opportunities and in 2024 she entered into the politics.

Recently the remarkable failure of War 2 , the sequel of block-buster War affected the careers of Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR who played the leading roles in War 2.

For Jr. NTR it was a big disappointment, it was his debut film in Bollywood and his entry into the Bollywood made a negative impact. The failure of War 2 did not affect majorly on his career in the South due to his star power and for his previous records of several block-buster hit films. This experience made Jr. NTR to become more conscious and to become more selective on his future projects. He is now said to be focusing on scripts which has mass appeal and also emotional depth.

With the failure of War 2 , Hrithik Roshan widely got trolled especially for not acting frequently in the films like other stars. Hrithik Roshan on the social media admitted that he was overconfident, he felt the role is easy and comfortable, he ignored the inner voice that cautioned him that a feeling of too easy was a sign of a potential problem.

In the same way the sequels such as Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardar 2, Salman Khan's Dhabangg 3, Akshay Kumar's Housefull 3 and Salman Khan's Race 3 failed at the box office.

Sometimes the failure of the sequels don't damage heavily the careers of the actors mainly due to their star power but definitely it makes impact on their careers to some extent.
