Do you have any interesting historical photos?

A woman riding a powered scooter in 1917.

It's probably a single-cylinder, front-wheel-drive kick scooter. The engine itself is visible above and in front of the tire. The spark plug is on top. The shiny black object beyond the tire is likely the fuel tank.

The stand appears to be up at the base of the vehicle, and its position is perpendicular to the road, so it was probably taken while the vehicle was stationary.

The lady is Lady Florence Norman, famous for her role in the women's suffrage movement in Britain. She is riding what appears to be a 155cc single-cylinder Autoped (New York) bicycle. Some online articles mistakenly identify it as electric, but this is incorrect as there is no battery compartment. In the black and white photo above, the box visible at her feet is likely not a battery, but rather her bag or something similar.

What's interesting about this photo is that it shows that kick scooters existed and were used by people over 100 years ago. And the fact that those users were from the upper class is also fascinating.

If you search, you'll find plenty of photos of this powered kick scooter, but I wonder why all the pictures are of it in London, even though it's made in the USA.
