ಸ್ನೇಹವೆರಡಕಮುಚಿತ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ

ದೇಹವೆಂಬುದು ಕುದುರೆಯಾತ್ಮನದರಾರೋಹಿ ।
ವಾಹನವನುಪವಾಸವಿರಿಸೆ ನಡೆದೀತೆ? ॥
ರೋಹಿ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆದಪ್ಪೆ ಯಾತ್ರೆ ಸುಖ ಸಾಗೀತೆ? ।

dEhavembudu kudureyu Atmanu adara ArOhi ।
vAhanavanu upavAsa irise naDedIte? ॥
rOhi jAgratedappe yAtre sukha sAgIte? ।
snEhavu eraDakam uchita - Mankutimma ॥ 397 ॥

"Body is a horse. Soul is the rider. If the vehicle is starved, will it move? If the rider is not alert, then can the journey be safe and happy? It is best if both the horse and the rider are friends with each other." - Mankutimma

ನರನಾರಿಮೋಹದಿಂ ವಂಶವದಕಾಗಿ ಮನೆ ।

ನೆರೆ ಹೊರೆಗಳೂರು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳು ಸಂಘಗಳು ॥
ಕೆರೆಯೊಂದು ಕೇಂದ್ರದಿಂದಲೆಯೆ ಬಳೆಗಳು ನೂರು ।
ಹರಿವಂತೆ ಸಂಸಾರ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೪೦೬ ॥
