Why didn’t Trilok Kapoor receive that much publicity as other actors in spite of having more than 200 films under his belt?

Trilok Kapoor was the younger brother of Prithviraj Kapoor.

I am not sure whether he was a part of more than 200 films but this remains a fact that he was a prominent lead actor and highest paid film star for several years in the 1930s and 40s.

He was often paired as hero opposite leading actresses of that time. He also starred opposite Nargis in Pyar Ki Baatein which was a huge success.

He was famous but his publicity decreased in mainstream commercial cinema as he later on shifted to mythological movies.

Trilok Kapoor and Nirupa Roy played the role of Shiv and Parvati in almost eighteen films.

They were highly popular as their film Har Har Mahadev was the highest grossing film of 1950.

He kept himself restricted to mythological roles for almost two decades and later switched to character roles after 1970 until his death in 1988. His notable films in character roles are Chor Chor, Darwaza, Kachche Dhaage, Purana Mandir, Saboot and Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
