Is Amazon actually a caring employer for its workers?

 When Thomas Becker suffered a heart attack inside an Amazon warehouse back in 2017, he begged his coworkers: "Please don't let me die."

Tragically, that's exactly what happened.

His colleagues immediately alerted management and urgently requested an ambulance be called.

But instead of prioritizing his life, Amazon's warehouse leadership seemed far more concerned with building security protocols than the man dying right in front of them.

Before anything else, everyone present was required to hand over personal information, including their social security numbers and birth dates.

Meanwhile, absolutely nothing was being done to help Becker.

Defibrillator boxes were mounted throughout the facility, devices that could have genuinely saved his life, if they'd actually contained working equipment.

Instead, they were completely empty.

Pure decoration, apparently installed just to superficially satisfy safety regulations.

As a result, no one could locate an actual defibrillator anywhere in the building.

It took a full 25 minutes just to notify emergency medical services, and once paramedics finally arrived, warehouse management refused to let them enter through the nearby loading dock, which would have provided direct access to Becker.

Instead, the emergency team was forced to go through a full security check at the main entrance, then escorted along a designated internal route through the warehouse, wasting another critical 7 minutes.

By the time paramedics finally reached him, Becker had already stopped breathing entirely.

And tragically, his death wasn't an isolated case.

Two years later, another Amazon employee suffered a heart attack, and once again, coworkers were forced to watch him lie there for 20 minutes before help was finally summoned.

Between November 2018 and November 2019 alone, six separate deaths were recorded across Amazon warehouses.

In every single case, the company denied any responsibility whatsoever.

There's been only one instance where Amazon was actually found legally liable.

That occurred in 2017, when warehouse employee Phillip Lee Terry, based in Indiana, was fatally crushed by a forklift.

Terry had previously worked as a sales representative and had zero prior experience operating heavy machinery.

Almost immediately after being hired at Amazon, he was assigned responsibility for operating and maintaining forklifts on-site.

His training consisted of a brief, informal walkthrough from a coworker, with no written materials or formal instruction provided.

As a result, he simply wasn't aware of proper safety procedures for forklift operation.

While attempting a repair, he was crushed beneath a 500 kilogram metal plate.

In an expedited legal proceeding, the court found Amazon guilty.

Judges fined the company $28,000, a figure that year Amazon reported profits of $72.4 billion.

Following the ruling, Amazon reached out directly to Indiana's governor, Eric Holcomb.

Hoping that maintaining a good relationship with Amazon might encourage the company to build its next distribution center in the state, bringing valuable tax revenue with it, the governor ultimately intervened and had the fine waived entirely.

Which is the deadliest river monster in the Amazon river?

 There are no river monsters in the Amazon river. There are animals, both big and small, many of which aren’t even close to being as dangerous as people imagine.

But sure, I’ll list some of the most notable creatures that can be found in the Amazon river and its tributaries. They’re not monsters and most of them aren’t even dangerous, but they certainly are amazing creatures:

The arapaima is one of the largest fresh water fish, reaching as much as 3 meters in length. Despite their size, though, they aren’t dangerous at all. They are treated as something of a delicacy, however.

The anaconda is the heaviest snake in the world, though not quite the longest. It can reach over 5 meters in length, with the females being considerably bigger than males. Despite its Hollywood fame, there are very few confirmed attacks on humans, which shouldn’t come as a surprise really they’re big, but not big enough to consider an adult human being a meal. Rather than being horror movie monsters, these are very shy animals that do not show any interest at all in relentlessly pursuing people.

Ah, the infamous piranhas. I bet you can already imagine a swarm tearing a poor horror movie character to pieces. In real life, though, that… really doesn’t happen. First of all, piranhas don’t normally attack people unless exposed to stressful situations; secondly, they do not swarm like in the movies. In fact, piranha attacks usually involve single bites, normally in the hands and feet. Hardly what you’d expect from watching those absurd Piranha films.

By the way, people eat piranhas. I can tell you they’re not half bad.

The electric eel is notable for being both electric and not an eel it’s actually a species of knifefish. This fellow is actually pretty big, being able to reach up to 2 meters in length. But, of course, its most awesome feature is its electric powers acting like an organic battery, it can produce a shock up to 860 volts and 1 ampere of current. Not enough to kill humans by itself, due to its short duration, but it’s certainly unpleasant.

It also has a really derpy face.

The black caiman is actually the only animal in this list that I’d classify as seriously dangerous. It’s the biggest caiman species and, well, it’s a crocodilian. You do not want to mess with crocodilians. It’s pretty big, with some individuals growing up to 6 meters, though most never grow beyond 4.5 m. Still, attacks aren’t common. Keep a respectful distance between you and them, and you’ll be fine.

Also, humans kill a lot more caimans than the other way around. Just sayin’.

I know this sounds a bit cliched, but humans really are the biggest killers of all predatory Amazonian animals. It’s really hard to stop people from killing even endangered species.

*ಪೆರುವಿನ ತನ್ನ ಉಗಮ ಸ್ಥಾನದಿಂದ ಕೇವಲ 300 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ ಅನಾಯಾಸವಾಗಿ ಫೆಸಿಫಿಕ್ ಸಾಗರವನ್ನು ಸೇರಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಅಮೆಜಾನ್‌ನಂತಹ ಗಂಡುಬೀರಿಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ!! ಆಕೆ ಈಶಾನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ 6,400 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರುಗಳಷ್ಟು ನೆಲಸೀಳಿಕೊಂಡು ಅಟ್ಲಾಂಟಿಕ್ ಸಾಗರವನ್ನು ಸೇರುತ್ತಾಳೆ! ಹೀಗೆ ಸೇರುವ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಉಪನದಿಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯೇ ಒಂದು ಸಾವಿರದ ನೂರು!! ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಅನೇಕ ದೇಶಗಳ ದೊಡ್ಡ ನದಿಗಳೇ ಈ ಉಪನದಿಗಳಷ್ಟೂ ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದರೆ, ಅಮೆಜಾನ್ ನದಿಯ ವೈಶಾಲ್ಯತೆ ಅರ್ಥವಾದೀತು!!*

 *ಇಡೀ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಐದನೇ ಒಂದರಷ್ಟು ಸಿಹಿ ನೀರು ಈ ಒಂದೇ ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ! ಹೆಚ್ಚೇಕೆ, ಅಮೆಜಾನ್ ನದಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಹರಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವೇ ಪ್ರತೀ ಸೆಕೆಂಡ್‌ಗೆ ಎರಡು ಲಕ್ಷದ ಒಂಭತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಕ್ಯೂಬಿಕ್ ಮೀಟರ್!! ಅನೇಕ ಕಡೆ ಈ ನದಿಯ ಅಗಲವೇ 190 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್‌ಗಳು!! ಸಾಗರ ಸೇರಿದ ಮೇಲೂ ಈ ನದಿ ಸುಮಾರು ನೂರು ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ವರೆಗೂ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಉಪ್ಪುನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆರೆಯುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ!*

*ವಿಚಿತ್ರವೆಂದರೆ, ಇಂದಿನವರೆಗೂ ಅಮೆಜಾನ್‌ಗೆ ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಸೇತುವೆ ಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗಿಲ್ಲ! ಇವೆಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೆ ಕಿರೀಟವಿಟ್ಟಂತೆ, ಈ ನದಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾಂತರವಾಗಿ, ಸುಮಾರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಆಳದ ಭೂಮಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಇದರ 4 ಪಟ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದ ನದಿ (2011ರ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ) ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಅದನ್ನು 'ಹಂಜಾ಼ ನದಿ' ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ!*

*ತಾನು ಹರಿವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ 40ಸಾವಿರ ಜಾತಿಯ ಮರಗಿಡಗಳು!, 1,300 ಪ್ರಬೇಧದ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳು, 3000 ಜಾತಿಯ ಮೀನುಗಳು, 430 ಜಾತಿಯ ಸ್ತನಿಗಳು, ಎರಡೂವರೆ ಮಿಲಿಯನ್ ಜಾತಿಯ ಕೀಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾಳೆ!! ಭಯಾನಕ ಇಲೆಕ್ಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಈಲ್‌ಗಳು, ಕೆಂಪಿರುವೆ, ಟೊರಾಂಟುಲಾಗಳು, ಭೀಕರ ಪಯಾರಾ ಮೀನುಗಳು, ಅನಕೊಂಡಾಗಳು, ಖೇಮ್ಯಾನ್‌ಗಳು, ವಿಚಿತ್ರ ಕ್ಯಾಂಡಿರೂ ಮೀನುಗಳು!! ನೀರಿಗಳಿದ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೇ ಆಗಲಿ ನಿಮಿಷದೊಳಗೆ ಅಸ್ಥಿಪಂಜರ ಮಾಡಿಬಿಡುವ ರಕ್ತಪಿಪಾಸು ಫಿರಾನ್ಹಾ ಗುಂಪುಗಳು.. ಒಂದೇ ಎರಡೇ?! ಇವೆಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೆ ಕಲಶವಿಟ್ಟಂತೆ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಗಂಧವೇ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಲೀನವಾಗಿರುವ ಕಾಡುಜನರ ಆಲಯವಿದು! ಇಂತಹಾ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಸದೃಶ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಗೆ ನಾವು ದೂರದಿಂದಲೇ ನಮಿಸೋಣ!*
