What should everyone know about Jakarta?

Hmmm, Jakarta is like a toxic relationship. It's beautiful, full of tall buildings, glamorous with all its entertainment, and exciting, full of interesting people. At first, it was really fun, but there was a feeling of "this isn't healthy," but over time, we got used to the bad things. We just enjoyed the daily routine of the capital.

(Not my ex)

After a few years, we started to get fed up with living in Jakarta, with its hours-long traffic jams, career stress, and high levels of pollution. But deep down, we thought, this is the capital, money flows freely, we live in the heart of Indonesia, and our friends are all here. Living in Pasuruan wouldn't be fun, there wouldn't be anything. So we stayed in Jakarta.

However, over time, we burn out and lose touch with the capital. After a week away, we realize, "Oh, damn, it's so unpleasant there!" For example, we have to plan our trip an hour in advance. The cost of living is expensive, and the cost of hedonism is even more so, so even a large salary is spent. We're so used to it that the stress fades, and when life starts to slow down, we suddenly feel happier.

Living in Jakarta is overrated. People are accustomed to unhealthy conditions. Making money is easy, but spending it is even easier. It's fine for 2-3 years to gain experience and develop a sense of survival. I think other Indonesian cities, like Surabaya, are much better for quality of life.

I'm quite happy to have left Jakarta.

Edit: I was just joking about Pasuruan….
