• An actress of the 90s, whose talking eyes, charming style and brilliant performance had made people crazy in a very short time. We are talking about famous actress Divya Bharti. Divya touched those heights of fame in a very short time, which every actress in the film industry aspires for. In just three years, she worked in 20 films and became the number one heroine of Bollywood by giving many superhit films. However, at the age of just 19, he said goodbye to this world.

Started acting to avoid studies

• Divya was born on 25 February 1974. His father worked in Omprakash Bharti Insurance Company and mother was a housewife. Divya had studied till ninth grade. It is said that he had entered the film world to avoid studies. When Divya was at the peak of her career, she died in suspicious circumstances on April 5, 1993. The entire Bollywood was shocked by his sudden demise. It has been 30 years since he left the world, but the mystery of his death has not been solved even today. In the year 1998, after a long investigation, Mumbai Police has closed Divya's case considering it as an accident.

What happened on 5th April ?

According to media reports, Divya had returned from Chennai to her home in Mumbai on the day of the accident. He was to go to Hyderabad for the shooting of a film, but due to a leg injury, the shooting was postponed. It is said that fashion designer Neeta Lulla and her husband reached Divya's house that day. All three drank alcohol together. Apart from all of them, the maid of the actress was also present in the house.

How did Divya die ?

• According to information, Divya was sitting in her balcony in a state of intoxication, where there was no grill. According to reports, while trying to get up, her foot slipped and she fell straight down from the fifth floor. He was immediately taken to Cooper Hospital after the accident, but the doctors could not save him due to serious injuries. Some considered the death of the actress as an accident and some termed it as a conspiracy. After her departure, the actress's husband Sajid Nadiadwala was also accused, but the truth is that no one knows how Divya died.

She had signed Kanyadaan and Raghuveer where she was replaced by Manisha Koirala and Shilpa Shirodkar. Some of her films like Bajrang and Ek Kadam Aage were shelved after her death.

She would have done good in Mohra but it would have been interesting to see her in Laadla.

There is some footage of Divya’s performance and she has done a commendable job. In fact the footage of her performance was shown in a television programme after her death in 1994.

Director Raj Kanwar was so very impressed by Divya’s performance that he had shown the clips to Sridevi and asked her to emote like Divya.

It would be unfair to debate on their performances. It has to be noted that Sridevi was an experienced actress known for her versitality whereas Divya was in the early stage of her career.

Shah Rukh Khan was not the first choice in 'Deewana', he got the job because of Divya Bharti, this actor made a surprising revelation

In the year 1992, the film Deewana came and turned Shahrukh Khan's career around. Shahrukh was in a side role in the film and this was his first film to be released. In this film, before the interval, Rishi Kapoor, who was the lead actor of this film, is shown. Whereas Shahrukh comes as the second lead actor after the interval and the audience liked him so much that Rishi Kapoor's role got sidelined.

• The lead actress in the film Deewana was Divya Bharti and this film was included in the list of superhit films of that year. Everyone enjoyed Shahrukh's work but do you know that Shahrukh was not the first choice for this role.In an interview given to Siddharth Kanan, Avinash Wadhawan revealed that he was selected in place of Shahrukh Khan in 'Deewana'. He told me, 'He has received an offer to direct the film Deewana. It has three producers and two heroes. Rishi Kapoor has been signed in the lead role and a new girl Divya Bharti has come, both of them are in the lead role. There is a search for a hero who is a new face and I have come to you with this offer.

• 'I told him that Raju is the second hero's entry just before the interval...the entire film is focused on Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti, man, I am working as a solo hero right now and you are offering me the second lead. Anyway, I respect Rishi ji a lot, he is my senior and also my favourite. I think I should not do this role, I will look very small in front of him. Still, Raju tried hard to make me say yes to this role.

Why didn't Avinash Wadhawan sign the film?

The conversation between Avinash and Raju ended with no conclusion. Avinash further expanded on this point and said, 'My other films were signed with filmmaker KC Bokadiya ji. He had to go to Chennai for 10 days and along with that I also had to go to Mahabaleshwar for a song shoot. I talked to my secretary who told me that Avinash sir, we cannot sign any film right now.

• 'If anyone comes to sign, we will give a date next year. On the other hand, Raju was after me to do 'Deewana', so I told Raju that I do not have any date for the next 12 months because my 8 films are on the floor. The makers of the film did not want to stop, so I had to refuse that film.

How did Shahrukh Khan get 'Deewana'?

• Avinash further said in the same interview, 'Shahrukh had come into a new industry at that time. Divya Bharti already knew him, perhaps he was shooting for a film. He introduced Shahrukh to the makers of 'Deewana' and he was signed. 'Deewana' became Shahrukh's first film to be released and his stardom today is not hidden from anyone.According to media reports, Shahrukh Khan was signed for Hema Malini's film Dil Aashna Hai and Shahrukh met Divya on its sets. Divya knew Shahrukh from here and had recommended him to the makers for 'Deewana'.
