Being a 90’s kid, I grew up watching random item songs in very serious movies like Chhaiya Chhaiya in the movie Dil Se where Malaika Arora appears out of nowhere over the train and starts dancing like a part of the running train without a hint of vertigo!

So I was prepared to what I will be seeing in forthcoming years and Guys! It is like a competition of who's more pathetic and lecherous among these item songs since two decades now!

From Ishq Kameena to Chamma Chamma and from Dum Maro Dum to Dilbar Dilbar and 100 Superstars parade in Om Shanti Om, the counts are never ending and should not be remembered at all.

Because of many degradations including this major item number issue, I had lost hopes from Indian Cinema since past 4–5 years and I rarely watch a Bollywood movie and only if it's based on real life or have sensible actors in it.

But No!

I went and watched a movie “Stree” because it had a sensible actor in it.

And it wouldn't took more than 15 minutes for an item number out of nowhere and no reason to come. I am still figuring out the actual point of that Kamariya song in the whole movie!

And utter disappointments are when majestic and historic cinemas like Bahubali had plot created specifically and specially for these dirty and inappropriate item numbers.

Dear Indian Directors,

We do not expect a brain tester like Inception from you but also we are not intrested in vulgarity and cheapness of item numbers which you insert in a movie from parachute out of nowhere!

 In 1995, posters were put up all around Mumbai saying - What are Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala doing at Hotel Centaur [Juhu] on 29th July 1995 People got curious whether this is some rumour or gossip. Eventually it turned out that Venus had organised the music launch of the film Akele Ham Akele Tum at the hotel on the said date.

Similarly when Sanjay Dutt was arrested in the 1993 TADA case, Subhash Ghai printed posters all over the city with Sanjay Dutt in prison clothes and chained with the title “Haan Main hun Khalnayak”. I would say this was a desperate attempt to seek cheap publicity for your film.

But the worst trick to publicise a film happened just this year. Suddenly on the internet the statistics and reports of missing children in Delhi started circulating. News circulated that there are gangs which are involved in kidnapping and human trafficking which led to the abduction of 800 children and girls in just one month. Naturally these news created panic among the people and created chaos. Later Delhi police claimed that the stats are over exaggerated and misleading and is not linked to an abduction racket or serial abduction. The source of these news was linked to the PR team of Mardaani 3, a film based on the topic of missing girls. Naturally the makers received a lot of criticism for their cheap tactics of rumour mongering to promote their film..
