What are five simple tricks that can help an amateur photographer improve quickly?

I am a registered photographer with Getty Images. Here are five simple, important rules, illustrated with photos I found on Google.

If you didn't know them before, they will instantly improve your photography.

1. Use the rule of thirds. Place the main lines of your photo along the lines shown here, and position the subject(s) at the points where the lines intersect. It's like harmony in music; it only works to create visual harmony.

2. Remove unwanted objects if they don't improve the image. Look at the entire scene before pressing the button, not just the subject.

3. For appealing portrait photos, use flat, matte lighting.

4. For appealing landscape photos, use the opposite, dramatic directional lighting.

5. Modern camera equipment and software are very forgiving of poorly exposed photos. However, they are not perfect. If you overexpose, you cannot correct it later. If you have to choose, you will always err on the side of underexposure.

What psychological tricks and hacks are useful to know?

  1. If someone is trying to make you decide in a hurry, they are probably giving you a bad deal. Walk away.
  2. Sometimes pretending that you are naive gets you more information.
    1. Pretending is helpful many times.
  3. If you want to avoid office politics, say good things about coworkers behind their backs.
  4. Physical contact makes you more likely to say yes to a request.
  5. If you want to make someone feel uncomfortable, look at their forehead when you're talking to them.
  6. When a group of people laugh, they tend to look at the person they like the most.
  7. Nervousness and excitement have the same body reaction, so if you're nervous for a speech, instead convince yourself you're excited. Its proven to give better speeches, too.
  8. Ask for something that seems small, but is related, to what you really want. Then, once they've agreed to the small thing, just work up with slightly larger requests until you've achieved the desired outcome
    1. The agreement hack.

What are some scary psychological tricks?

  1. When you're talking to someone, suddenly look behind them. They'll immediately turn to see what you're looking at. If you do this 3-4 times, the person you're talking to will feel uncomfortable and will shift their position so they can also see what's behind them. This works best in situations where there's something behind them. This trick is truly creepy because, in the right setting, people will sense there's someone they can't see, and they'll immediately become afraid.
  2. When you're talking to someone, spontaneously glance at your watch. The person you're talking to will feel very uncomfortable, like they're wasting your time, and will try to leave you alone. They might even ask you if you're in a hurry. (Somehow, this trick doesn't work if you're looking at the time on your phone, but it does work if you're looking at a clock.)
  3. When you're talking to someone, try silencing them mid-conversation and pretending you're listening to something they can't quite hear. You can also add special effects like, "Hey, did you hear that?" It's really scary! Do this a few times and they'll be really annoyed.
  4. When you're talking to someone, if you lower your voice or whisper, they'll automatically lower their voice to match your tone or whisper, even if they don't know why you're whispering. This trick works well when arguing, explaining, lecturing, or advising someone when they're speaking louder than you. You lower your voice, and they'll follow suit.

(Many people believe that speaking loudly will give them more power. This is not always true. In some arguments or situations when we want to keep control in our hands, lowering our voice always helps. We automatically gain power and control over the person or people who speak loudly. Most of the time, the loud person can only speak loudly and will feel confused if he has to lower his voice. (He uses his loud voice as his power). This will make him lose and that's when you will have a reason to defeat him.)

  1. When you are in a room with 1 or more people, in conversation or in silence, tap 2-3 times on your desk, your laptop, a book, or any other surface that can make a knocking sound. No matter what they are doing, even if they are 200% sure that no one is knocking, they will jump towards the sound to confirm it. The human mind is wired to think of knocking as an action that demands an immediate response from them, (like opening a door when someone knocks). This trick is great fun to scare friends and distract them, and is generally very, very annoying. It keeps people losing their focus and concentration.

What is the coolest psychological trick?

  1. Most people text faster when it's someone they like.
  2. Believing you slept well improves your performance.
  3. When a group of people laughs, everyone looks at their favorite.
  4. Good liars are better at detecting the lies of others.
  5. Do you want to irritate someone? start ignoring, there's nothing more irritating than it.
  6. You appear more attractive to the other person when you make them smile or laugh.
  7. The more you try to impress people, the less impressed they’ll be.
  8. The word "because" can instantly help your message to be more persuasive during a conversation.
  9. When you’re playing rock, paper, scissors, ask your opponent a question right before you start the chant. They will almost always choose scissors.
  10. Use a person's name right away. This has the added benefit of making the person like you more! People like to hear their names. It makes us feel important.
