The “Aur Aahista Girl” (Sameera who first appeared in Pankaj Udhas’s music video “Aur Aahista” in 1997), later made her debut opposite Sohail Khan in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya.
She appeared in films like Darna Mana Hai, Musafir, Taxi Number 9211, De Dana Dan, Race etc. Sameera has also worked in Tamil and Telugu films.
She decided to quit Bollywood and got married to Akshai Varde (entrepreneur, who also designed Akshay Kumar’s bike in Oh My God).
Though she quit Bollywood in 2013, two of her releases (Naam - Ajay Devgun 2024) - (Aakhri Sawaal - Sunjay Dutt 2026) released after long delays.
As per Sameera she left the industry due to lack of appreciation of her work. Her acting wasn't appreciated and sometimes she was replaced by star kids due to nepotism. Also she wanted to escape the exhausting and toxic beauty standards of the film industry. She was under constant pressure to alter her appearance as she was told of being “too dark, too tall and too broad” to fit the typical girl next door mould.
After marriage she wanted to make a comeback but during her first pregnancy she struggled with postpartum, depression and weight gain. At one time her weight increased to 102 kgs.
As per reports, Sameera shifted from Mumbai in 2020 and lives happily with her husband and two children in Bastora, North Goa. She is very close to nature and practices composting. Also she runs a highly popular “Messi Mama” and “Mom in Progress” movement on Instagram where she shares candid realities of postpartum recovery, parenting and family life.
From the limelight of Bollywood, Sameera has transitioned into a popular social media influencer and wellness advocate. Her focus has shifted from acting to family life, body positivity and a sustainable lifestyle.
