Amitabh played his first negative role of a murder-accused obsessive lover in the 1971 psychological thriller Parwana.
Bachchan (Kumar Sen) an infatuated artist is in love with Yogita Bali (Asha). Knowing that Asha is in love with Navin Nischol (Rajeshwar), Kumar kills Asha’s uncle and tries to frame Rajeshwar for the crime.
Sanjeev Kumar was the first choice for Amitabh’s role but he did not have dates.
Amitabh was living with editor Neerja Shah during the filming of Parwana. He used to practice his lines at her home and involve Neerja and her sisters in the rehearsals.
On the first day of the shoot, Amitabh forgot his lines and the shooting was cancelled.
Choreographer Suresh Bhatt wanted Amitabh to be replaced from the film due to his poor dancing skills.
Arun Ahuja (Govinda's father) also acted in the film but he had no scenes with Amitabh Bachchan. After 20 years Govinda was seen with Amitabh Bachchan in Hum.
The film was jointly produced by Lalita Pawar’s son Jay Pawar.
Parwana was Navin Nishchol’s second movie after Sawan Bhadon and Yogita Bali's debut movie (the release date of her film Pardey Ke Peeche varies).
