At first glance, I'd say it's worse to burn alive .
If only it weren't for a disturbing and absurd
phenomenon that occurs when you freeze to death : the paradoxical striptease.
This is a very particular condition in which the person who is about to freeze takes off all the clothes he is wearing until he is left in his underwear , even though he risks absolute hypothermia.
The reason that leads humans to do this lies entirely in a cerebral short circuit : the brain , in a state of stress , sends an incorrect
(or rather, opposite )
impulse
to the muscles responsible for the contraction and distension of the blood vessels : the latter, in fact, will enter a relaxation phase such that they will widen to such an extent as to allow the warmest blood to flow to the extremity of our body that is most in contact with the epidermis , thus generating exaggerated hot flashes that lead the subject to undress completely despite the ongoing freezing.
The man, therefore, is destined to fall into a state of hypothermia, but not before experiencing a smile on his face, the fruit of the relief that having completely undressed - due to the excessive heat - has brought him.
